I am looking for a really fast and reliable host for my site(s).
really want something that I can host lots of sites on, VERY fast, and easy to manage (so everything basically).

guess maybe VPS or dedi is better, but don't have much experience of that from a hosting perspective.

really looking for some advise.

have about 40 sites for this requirement. Currently they are split across a few different shared hosting accounts.

What country? I use a great one in the UK and they offer cloud hosting for Wordpress sites so they are constantly fast...

Try Inmotion hosting VPS. They do provide real fast servers. I do have an account with them which works perfect

Check this out:

mddhosting.com/vps.php
hawkhost.com/vps-hosting

try any good host , then use cloudflare. (good speed + low server cost )

I like Server4you services, take a look at the dedicated servers, they have europe and USA locations.

Id be interested to know.
i am in uk, currently using krystal hosting. They are pretty good.
But I'm looking for US provider now, for my US sites.

BlueHost and HostGator are good companies. Maybe you should try them out.

I use hostgator currently, they are very good, but I need faster.

There is a cloudflare option in cpanel, I thought it was more for preventing ddos.
can I set that up then? Is free account good enough or do I need paid account?
please advise.

also, if I go for a VPS/dedi, what's the best way to manage? Cpanel? Any providers that sell them all ready to go and set up with cpanel ?

I use TSOhost in the UK for cloudhosting, they have been great for my wordpress sites. PM me for a discount if ya interested, not much but every penny and all that :)

Any other opinions?
im thinking now either to try cloudflare, or maybe to get VPS/dedi. Not sure which is better/easier to manage.
dont really want to move all sites if I can help it...

I have just set up Cloudflare (Thanks prab1996), Lets see how it goes:-)

Try Servinio working good for me and owner is a bhw member so you can contact him about anything you like to know.

Cloudflare is good, it definitely speeds things up.

ive also ended up setting up a VM with cpanel installed on my dedi so I'm currently moving everything over to that (as well as running cloudflare).

I've been with Scala Hosting for 2 years now and they are without a doubt the best hosts I've ever used, very fast servers, cheap and almost no downtime.

I'm doing some speedtests over the next few days (using google page speed checker and pingdom page speed checker).
im testing on my shared hosting (hostgator) with cloudflare enabled, then shared hosting with cloudflare disabled, then on my VPS (1gbps, 4gb ram) and will see which is fastest.

i use hostgator for years without any problem.

Yes, they are very good. we have reseller account at work. But my motivation for moving is partly for greater speed, and also as I had dedicated server not being used (hence why I decided to set up a VPS for hosting).

Inmotion is terrible. They don't know how to handle nodes with heavy traffic. I even moved all my sites off of my VPS and use it just as a test server now and STILL have trouble logging into WHM and ssh, pages taking forever to load, etc. STAY AWAY.
