The "news" are not as remarkable as some might believe, but still interesting and a bit odd. I'm not a science person, so I don't understand why they would test anything like this. To me, it's just absurd, but I guess there is some scientific progress through this test.
Anyhow.
I have some inside info. I don't know how much "inside" it is anymore, since it has been revealed on other platforms as well.
They are going to reveal that they have followed a fart that was released from earth, all the way to the moon.
The "gas" was followed through long-distance "micro-telescopes" (I don't know what this exact tool is called) and with infrared cameras. At the base, they released the gas from a can, onto a big fan. The fan is very narrow, but extremely strong. This made it possible to direct the gas into a specific path, and during a long time.
After that, they had some sort of drones who followed the gas and made sure it went into the correct path.
During this whole time they followed the gas through those "micro-telescopes", two giant satellites and infrared cameras, that were placed both on earth and the moon.
I might not remember correctly, but I think this whole ordeal took like 9-10 months to travel from start to finish.
