Hey guys, I am new in dropshipping, don't judge me if my question is too stupid, but i am wondering what name to choose for my shop. I have to choose between universal name ( for example if the shop is for dogs - dogshop.com , dogstore.com etc. cliche names) or to choose personal name, something easy to remember, like brand name. I thought about choosing brand name because it sounds more reliable to customers (in my opinion), but won't that make my store harder to be popularized?

Don't overthink it, just pick something simple and run with it. There are much more important things you could be spending your valuable time on!

If the name explains what the site is about than that's always a bonus :)
 
Choosing a Brand Name as domain name will not be a good Idea as they can send you legal notice stating that you are using their brand name in your domain , Which will not be good for you and your business.

I think op meant a name he could brand not a brand name already used.

I believe brand name is a better idea if you plan on setting a long-term goal for your store.
If you plan on doing it for the quick bucks - than a lame name including your niche would be a better option, as it will be more appealing to the customers' eyes.

Perfect option would be to have a Brand name, ideally from 4 to 8 letters max, including (somehow, if possible) your store niche.
Dont use dots, dashes and long explainable names.

Don't forget to check if the domain name is free !! This could be one of the most important things before picking a name for your store.
 
I believe a brand name is better as well. Look at asos for example, means nothing but still a brand selling clothes.

My advice would be to choose a name with no more than 15 characters in it, That way you will be able to secure the name on most social media sites as well, provided it is not already taken.

I always check if the name/username is available across all the main social media sites. That way I can secure the domain and all the social media at the same time.
 
When I start a new authority site I always think for hours or even days about the name. Why? Because I want to build an established brand around my site. It has to be unique, special & maybe kind of a pun. People should remember it.

Of course that doesn't apply to churn and burn sites.
 
You definitely need something completely original, something even a bit tongue in cheek. I had a client who wanted to call their hostel Locos House. The name sounds pretty generic and there is probably a lot the same around. We changed it to Haus di Locos...I think it's pretty catchy and it's completely original, meaning we had no issues with Insta handles or web domains! Look in the thesaurus for other words or even turn to other languages.
 
Depends on what store you want to build.
If you have a general store ideas like "DogStore" are good.
If you have a niche store I suggest you create a brand name.
