Namesilo - privacy is not private - warning !!!

50 websites on same registrant.
50 websites on same DNS.

You're scolding a registrant for not providing sufficient SEO-hosting protection, when that's not their business. Just to make it perfectly clear to everyone reading the thread, even though your sites were "grouped" as having the same owner, the ownership still remains hidden. No, it won't fool Google, but it wouldn't even have fooled Google if they were all different emails, because your blog network used the same registrant, and most likely the same DNS servers.

Really no one to blame but yourself on that one, and tarnishing NameSilo is uncalled for. Honestly, if your entire network is on the same DNS there's most likely many other footprints you're leaving behind as well.

So Mr. Two Post Who Rides In To Defend Namesilo,

Are you an executive for them or just a middle manager?

So how the **** are we supposed to fix this after the fact? I didn't know I had to be a PHP programmer to register a couple of goddamned domains in one go.

There is no programming required. You simply need to select "No" and then submit the form.

Sorry, but nothing can change archived information from services that harvest WHOIS.

It was a facetious statement. You know like "brain surgeon" "astronaut." An allusion to the fact that you have this setting buried and NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT. And it makes privacy NOT SO PRIVATE when ordering multiple domains within one or two days.

We do not make any attempt to hide this option. WHOIS is a service that can be checked at any time. If the results are not to your liking, we offer an option to change those results and still maintain privacy. Again, this option is available to use, and it is certainly not our intention to hide it. We have quite a few different configuration options for several kinds of services, but we cannot highlight every configuration option that is available as we do not know which things are the most important for every customer. The vast majority of our customers have no issue with our default privacy method, but we make an option available for those that do.

Why even make it an option? Randomize it every freakin time. Your competitors do.

Get your facts straight, please !

50 websites is not a huge number - if you have many hundreds or thousands of sites, you can't have one registrar for each domain.

DNS is a completely different issue - nothing to do with domain name registration. I have dozens of hosts, vps, etc. Of course my entire network is not on the same DNS (how long have you been doing this????) 50 sites on one server ???

I am not "scolding" NameSilo for not offering SEO-hosting protection - their method of providing privacy is seriously flawed.

Their method of describing how their privacy options work is seriously flawed.

I will also add that the DEFAULT option when you register a domain with privacy is for your domains to be "grouped" by email address.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I cannot understand why anyone would want their domains to be private AND be identified by the same email address? What's the point of this option? What's the point of privacy?

How many people, when they sign up for NameSilo privacy, actually realise that this is what is happening by DEFAULT ?

Let's see how Namesilo2 responds. I'm seriously pissed. An feel like bumping this.

Just checked; I'm screwed on some domains - thankfully I hadn't added/spent money on content. Maybe we can all get together and swap. Seriously. Unbelievable. Will never ever do business with these folks again. Ever.

Sorry, but you've lost my business. Done. Back to using Crapdaddy and namecheap.

Silverbak, if it helps, I'm also using internetbs.net ... much better than GD ... much better than namesilo, too, under the current circumstances.

Edgy, thanks for the info. I've only used the big 3. I'll check them out.

I'm not sure, but I think you might find that whoisology does not update their records immediately - you might find that some domains that are not yet listed and appear "safe" might show up in a month or two ...

I cannot speak to how many people are aware it is an option. I can say that most people simply do not want their personal information in WHOIS. This is the reason WHOIS privacy is used for the vast majority of people. At no time do we ever show personal information in WHOIS which is (by far) the biggest reason most people utilize privacy. For people who have a need to prevent WHOIS harvesters from linking their domains to the same person, we offer the option I have mentioned several times on this thread. We also randomize the emails every day (just updated from every 1-3 days) to make this even harder for harvesters. However, again, simply selecting the correct configuration option in the account prevents this issue entirely.

Without a doubt these are the go to guys for privacy.

Says Mr. 95 post? lol. You know what, you're brilliant. I tell everyone how they should NOT be using only namesilo for their domain purchases (because it reveals your blog network), and somehow you think that me telling people to NOT use namesilo makes me a manager for them? I assume that, if you have a business, you'd give your managers a pat on the back when they tell people to NOT use your service? You're the sharpest kid on the block.

My pet peves:

#1: Trashing the name of a company for no good reason. NameSilo did nothing wrong, period.
#2: Jumping all over a new members of a forum because they're, like ... new. Everyone had a 2nd post. Deal with it.

The only way you're going to make a private blog network actually work is if you're more paranoid about being found out than the OP. Hence, my pointing out the DNS/registrant being same issue was a favor, meant to help him on his next network in avoiding Google's attention.

Hi NameSilo,

The way you tried to retain clients is really bad. SilverBak has found himself exposed and it cannot be a mere coincidence. The very least is to apologize and swiftly change his Privacy settings and perform follow-ups so as not to tarnish further.

You'v just lost another client!
