Namecheap website 6 seconds loading time. Normal?

When I tested my website through Pingdom, it indicated that the response from the server took at least 5 seconds.

I spoke to the namecheap personnel and they told me that 5 to 6 seconds response time is normal for shared hosting. Is this correct? If so, it is quite hard to believe that people will be willing to wait so long for a site to load.

That's not a normal load time, it's very slow.

Google says "You should reduce your server response time under 200ms".

Google doesnt take into account he is on a shared hosting server, generally if you want a super fast speed he will need a VPS (assuming the services arent being oversold) It also depends on his front page and how much content in terms of images and their sizes. This can take a fraction of his load times. Another thing, it will vary based on his location, based on where the test is coming from, and based on the server location. Alot of variables when it comes to stuff like this, But I would not consider that extremely slow by any means, especially because he is sharing with everyone else.

iPage is the same for cheapest hosting plan 5s server response time. They said if I upgrade to more expensive shared plan, hosting will be faster, so I think here is the same situation.

200 MS on shared hosting isnt surprising at all, move to a VPS where you can control more of your hosting. Shared hosting with any company regardless who they are, you will run into sometype of performance issue.

Ask your host to provide you complete backup of your db.
This happened with me once I was unable to take the backup from cpanel after multiple tries I contacted the hosts and they did the backup for me. Maybe this works for you to.
