Namecheap scam again

A couple of years ago, I would have recommended Namecheap to anyone, however, this past year, they have really gone down hill.
  • Customer/technical support used to be some of the best I had seen, now they seem to employ idiots who have no clue, especially technically.
  • The servers are over populated/utilised, sites are now running really slowly or simply 503'ing all the time.
I used to have 10-20 hosting packages with them, now I have just a few and I am slowly moving everything away.

I do still use them for domain registration, always been good for that but the hosting sucks.

Thats not even an american company anymore. Everyone I ever talked to on Namecheap were Russians. And there is some really fucked up things happening.
Like I said before: They locked me from my account, I couldn't renew my domain, they even lied about I gave them wrong information about myself (wtf?!?!), domain expired and after it was available some russian directly registered it and put a russian website on it. I am not into conspiracies, but this stinks a lot.

This is indeed very sad, i use them for domains and never had a problem.
In the future(if you still plan on having your domains there) just do like this for renewal:
1 month before domain expires add the money to your namecheap account, then check "auto renewal" this way they can't do what they did to you.
For hosting they SUCK even resellers offer a better service for that price, when i used them my website was slowww and from time to time got 503 error.
Gaypal dispute is your only choice.
Cheers

Okay guys, Namecheap is absolutely taking the piss.

Its crazy! And this can't be ANY coincidence any more.

They just cancelled this hosting plan, after I told them THREE TIMES not to cancel it anymore, since they don't give me a refund...and what is their reply: "We cancelled your hosting plan as you requested." WTF is this about?

Just think for a moment: They totally scammed me $80 for this hosting plan, I asked them for a refund, they told me to request a cancellation to get a refund, they then said I can't get any refund, after that they asked me if I still want to cancel the hosting plan. I said no, since I would lose the $80 and the hosting plan. Like I would WASTE 80 BUCKS and now they just cancelled it.

This is by far the worst and most useless customer support ever.

The only good thing: I made a screenshot of me saying "Don't cancel the hosting plan, if you can't refund" and they replied "We cancelled your hosting plan and we can't provide a refund". Now I am going to upload this screenshot in the PayPal dispute. Fucking scammers

Never had hosting with name cheap but had lot of domains. Never had a problem

Go daddy, I had so many problems with domains

.de domain?
Nope, something is not right. I had to go through some crap where a company I got scammed by tried to keep my domain.
I had to sign all kinds of paperwork and send my license in, show receipts. I’m wondering if someone claimed your domain was theirs.

If domain still showing in your account as expired...transfer to other provider so other's can't take it.
I had transferred my domain on the last day when it's going to expire... namecheap to Other.

Opened a dispute on Paypal.

They replied:

"blablabla....Please refer to the notification sent to you on 08/17/2019 where you were suggested one of a few options as a one-time exception:

1) restore the package without any additional fees (usually it is necessary to pay the renewal price and $15 backup fee). Please note that the backup was available for 72 hours. The renewal date will be Aug/14/2020. Moreover, the account will be restored on Stellar Plus plan since we do not provide Professional plans anymore.

2) issue a refund to your Namecheap account funds. Please reply to the ticket you have with our Billing team and they will gladly assist you. Please close the dispute."

But here is what they wrote me on the support ticket (they sent me the ticket themselves):

"Hello,

This is to inform you that PayPal put your transaction (#transactionid) on hold. This payment was for the renewal of hostingplan for domain.de.

Please contact PayPal and resolve this issue with them. Otherwise, you will need to pay us a chargeback fee ($15.00) in addition to the amount spent ($80.00) which totals $95.00. Please refer to Namecheap Universal Terms of Service Agreement (17. Billing & Payment; Currency; Termination & Cancellation Policy.) at https://www.namecheap.com/legal/universal/universal-tos.aspx

Looking forward to your reply."

In their support ticket they give me any option and never talked about a refund.

So my reply on Paypal:

"...And yes, I saw your support ticket, but it was different than this reply. In the support ticket you didn't give me any options. You just said I should close the dispute or you will charge me even more money...."

Whats going on with them? Like on Paypal they said they will give me a refund and on their support ticket they just tell me to pay chargeback fee. For fucks sake.

NameCheap used to have an amazing support, but they obviously changed the whole thing a while back. The new customer support barely knows what the f a Domain is. Cutting costs or something?

Everyone I ever talked to on Namecheap was Russian. I am wondering if they bought this company? What the fuck is going on? Like how comes there is american people to talk to in an american company? Totally crazy

I think they swapped out their previous customer support people to "new ones" that are way cheaper, to cut costs. Yeah they seem Russian or something similar.

Namecheap is only alright for buying domains nowadays IMO, or barely even that.

I can't speak for anyone else but I've never really had any problems with Namecheap. nakamura and his loudmouth doesn't make his case any better, you should get overcharged in my opinion. I'm sure if you handled this correctly you would get your refund.

I would never recommend Namecheap for anything other than domains, I never understand the people (not to name call anyone) that use hosting providers that also sell domains for domain registration or domain providers that also sell hosting for hosting. What happened to not keeping all your eggs in one basket?

for me Namecheap always worked, though I use them for VPS - that's the best you get with BTC without any anal poking questions.

Loudmouth? Lol, did you even read what I wrote?
Just a short summary for you: I renewed a domain and the hosting plan, a few minutes later they sent me a refund for the domain and removed it from my account. Since domain and hosting plan were connected I had no use of the hosting plan. Literally 10 minutes after renewing it I contacted them and asked them why they refunded the domain. They suddenly then said I could get the domain if I pay $210. But they would not refund the hosting plan.

What they did next was: They cancelled the hosting plan and didn't refund me the money.

Do you think this is okay SilentDreamer? Where are you from? Wouldn't you get pissed off if they would do such thing to you? I don't even care about the $80. Its how obvious they scammed me and they really think they can do it.

All I know is that Namecheap isn't a one night stand company. If you can't post screenshots of them asking you to pay $210 for the domain then you are nothing but a loudmouth. The only reason they would deny you the domain renewal is if you've never verified your contact details or if your contact details are not German as per .de domain requirements. It is also possible that your domain went into the redemption status for which they will obviously charge much more but that is your fault and not theirs. There is no other reason for them to deny you renewal and if you're genuine you could report and sue them and then claim your domain by other means but I doubt your claim.
