the site has only 5 do follow back links at the moment

Send social media or YouTube videos to your site. You will get more traffic that way.
 
Getting traffic from google ain't that easy, you need to learn about SEO. At least, the basics. Take some SEO courses, then you can ask more questions in here.
Reasons for not getting traffic are unlimited and depends on each case
 
Check the site should be indexed and the articles are in unique
 
Few tips what I know

First of all, advertise your link
be connected with social media to promote your content
Give a catchy and long headline
be attention on on-page SEO and off-page SEO
long tail keyword
begin guest blogging
post your content on linkedin

Those are all I know to get traffic
 
Btw I tried to apply for ad sense , tried 3 times but no approval yet.

is it required to apply on the same admob account to get ad sense approval ?
 
Create more quality content also have social pages for your site, it will get traffic to your site. Optimize your titles, meta description if not done properly before.
 
Article should be unique,please check the article on copyscape or another sites after you post the article your website.
 
Simply share your worthy content with your social media and it should have more followers. Increasing organic traffic depends on the niche you are working with. Building backlinks in high traffic sites, where you can get organic referral traffic if possible.
