Just a little story I felt the need the share with the community seeing the drastic changes Google are making in the SEO industry.

I started to try out public blog networks last year when a few people recommended them. I decided to try it, no harm trying right?
I signed up for 4 of the most recommended networks - UAW, BMR, ALN and AR.

Tried and tested each one of them thoroughly and eventually quit BMR and AR as they take too much effort and the ROI is low. I was hardcore doing UAW and ALN, sending out hundreds of submissions each day. Usually a few weeks later, I'd hit page 1 easy, outranking those sites with rented high PR homepage backlinks without even paying a cent (literally). It all worked fine until a few weeks ago when Google started targeting and taking out these blog networks one by one.

Shit just got serious.

It first started with a wave of deindexing on all the networks. About 25% of my links were gone with that single strike alone. ALN alone had around 6000 blogs deindexed. My ranks still held steady, but from that moment on I knew I was on shaky ground. My rankings could drop anytime. I decided to take my chances and continue submissions to these networks.

Well what do you know? A week later the entire BMR network got nuked by Google and ALN is next. Matt Cutts said himself on his Twitter account that they're going to take out ALN (albeit indirectly). Not something someone like him would say unless he meant business. Hundreds of my high quality BMR links gone just like that, and all those posts were expensively outsource mind you. They only accepted unique content.

ALN is going down one way or the other, no matter what they do. ALN 2.0, ALN 3.0, heck ALN 10.0 won't stand a chance against this multi billion dollar giant that can squash it like a little bug. Right now all my rankings have taken a dive. I did diversify and my rankings didn't go down drastically as my sites were of extremely high quality, but every keyword I targeted for has now dropped.

Moral of the story is to either get your own private network and mask it wisely (STAY OUT OF SEOHOSTING) or just avoid these networks completely. They're going all out now, just look at Panda 3.4. Time to completely revise my SEO gameplan. You should too if you've been doing what I did. Change, adapt, evolve.

The best thing you did. Yes i completely agree with you these networks will not survive more then 6 months as google started manually reviewing them, No matter what they are going to do but G will not leave them. It's better to build a completely private network

What do you mean by saying "STAY OUT OF SEOHOSTING"?

Each time Google rolls out a new Panda people say its time to completely revise my game plan, but in the end I don't think there is a type of backlink not devalued by Google Now...

First it was Web2.0s, Bookmarks now Blog Networks ?

What the hell are we supposed to do now ? Facebook Likes and Twitter Re-tweets ?

I think the key is to DIVERSIFY. Always did that and never, ever, had a serious drop before in all of my entire SEO life.

Yeah, I would like to know more about it. Are you pointing towards a particular hosting provider ?

SeoHosting means multiple sites hosted on the same server but their IP address is different, But their nameservers are one.

for eg: site1 has nameserver set to ns1.hostingcompany.com and ip address 1.1.1.1
site2 has nameserver set to ns1.hostingcompany.com and ip address 1.1.1.2

Yup, I realised a few weeks ago this was the footprint I left, never joined blog networks, quality EMD sites with unique content, no xrummer blasts never interlinked but still hammered.

Back to the drawing board...:D GOOGLE I WILL BEAT YOU AGAIN.

A few months ago, I told the owner of ALN exactly what to do to avoid being penalized in the near future, but they did not listen to me because that was the way they wanted to continue their business.

You rode the BMR horse too long...Got to get off and look for an alternative earlier next time.

One of my site that started to see the light of day, I started feeling good about myself then bam GONE, my seo strategy dont usually include BMR ALN, I thought 2 month ago why not join the band, the worst decision I ever made.

Every single site of mine that uses ALN and BMR except one which am still waiting for it to tank got the unnatural detected link message.

Am not doing anything now except building my own free private blog till all this blows over then go from there

This is the answer, everyone's screaming that the sky's falling when in reality they simply never diversified in the first place. BMR, ALN, and other similar services were never, and should have never, been your only linkbuilding effort. By doing so you were doing yourself a disservice! That's simply NOT how to build a solid foundation of backlinks.

I keep saying this over and over, diversify every single aspect of your linkbuilding efforts. The sites that WEREN'T crushed in the SERPs have a great deal of diversification, from type of links, URLS being linked, anchor texts used, etc.

Yes, this the actions Google has taken are unprecedented. But, it is what it is. When you say adapt, evolve, etc. true, but whats really needed here is some common sense.

This is 180 degrees opposite of what I'm seeing is working right now.

Poorly constructed sites with massive amounts of spam links (usually only of the blog network variety), and authority sites are all that are ranking.
Watched a fully white hat competitor in a niche, with hugely diverse profiles, go from #1 to page 10...

People are talking about this update far less than the updates from Last April, but this update is undoubtedly bigger and worse for SEOers...
I truly cannot wrap my head around what is still working. Some of my sites were hit, many were not. Link variety appears to be about as relevant as... sunscreen on a glacier.

you can diversify all you like, if you ever touch BMR n ALN and unfortunately now or later you will get picked.

In my previous post, I never used BMR or ALN in any of my strategies, always been something else, until two month ago when i started using those services, I thought 1000 post a month won't hurt.

Even though my strategy always been naked urls, click here, visit here, brand name, I still got hit.

UAW has been mentioned here and there. So what is the status on that one?

I want to know what diversification of links means to you all
I am using the following links
Social bookmarks
Article submission
Guest Posts
Web 2.0 blogs

Is there something that I am missing out..Still not seeing any improvement.

You won't see any improvement...
These people telling you link diversity = the google fix are full of it unfortunately, as much as I would like to believe it.

I know that you are bummed out, but if you made money, that was a damn nice blackhat run.

Surely, you knew this could happen. Surely you realize that if you are working around what Google wants they will eventually slap you, my gosh its been going on forever.

You blackhat the short term, the fireships, the ones where you ride that horse till he collapses, and then you get another horse.

In the vein of keeping your eggs in one basket, use the blackhat methods to finance your white hat presence, and when it burns roast marshmallows and enjoy the flames.

Building a white hat site is literally the only sustainable business model for an online entity, unless you can afford to buy converting traffic.
