My first ever IM journey. Amazon Affiliate Site to $1000/month

Just sent the appeal form.

Fingers crossed

Good luck with your journey. But Amazon had reduced it's affliction share.

Day 2 of waiting on a response from Amazon.

How long should I wait before just opening another account guys?

I never heard of a case where one such "appeal" did anything.

Thanks for the input, nice avatar btw.

So, guys, it's day 3 already, Amazon states that they "usually reply within 24 hours".

Should I just open a new account today, then? I need some guidance here.

Hi OP, what did you do about the images? I'm building a new site now and I have not yet applied for an amazon affiliate partner so I can't use the API for getting the images. What images are you using right now on your site?

Hi bro.

I removed all the images and re-applied. Now I'm updating all articles with product images from Amazon, using SiteStripe tool. You will get access to this as soon as you apply, you don't need API access.

Yea I applied yesterday and had access to it. I thought you need to sell first before you get the API. Thanks mate! But I am seriously considering using amazon now in light of the commission reduction and I heard there are other way better commissions from other affiliate programs.

I got lucky with the changes, my niche wasn't affected %-wise.

So I'm sticking with it for now.

APRIL / MAY UPDATE.

Hello BHers!

The month of April is behind me and I'm glad to say it's gone as it was pretty fucking horrid.

As you know, I lost my day job at the beginning of the month and a few days later Amazon declined my application after getting my first ever sales in the campaign (got 5 in total). As that wasn't enough, the past 2 weeks I've been struggling with an eye infection that has partially stopped me from reaching all of my goals for last month. In other words, thank fuck April is gone.

Regarding the Amazon application mess, I have no one to blame as I simply didn't study the T&Cs closely enough. I tried to appeal the decision but they told me to fuck off and open a brand new account so I'm basically starting from scratch. I'm pretty sure I've taken care of all the issues now. I need to deliver the first 3 sales again before they will review my site.

Apart from "reaching" my sales goal, I have also surpassed my targets for organic users. The month-to-month comparison looks okay so far...

...but in the last 14-day period, I've experienced some week-to-week drops.

Which would make sense as the last week or so, some keywords have suffered drops in SERPs.

Below the impressions/positions chart for the US traffic for the last 3 months.

April Goals Update:

Number of new articles to be added: 6-10 / 4 - 2 articles short
Total words to be written: 20k-25k / 9,5k - 10,5k short
Total do-follow links to be acquired: 2-3 / 0 - 2-3 short
Organic visits in April: 100-120 / 203 - well exceeded my expectations
Total sales to be made: 1 / 5 - really happy with the number but I will get none of the $13 I earned

In the month of May...

The new month is here and there's no point dwelling on the last one now. The plan for May is to focus mostly on writing content as I feel I could be doing much more here, now that I'm officially free from my day job duties.

I've started May strongly, yesterday writing 2000k words and publishing my first article for the month. Today the goal of 2000 words stays the same and I'm planning to publish my 2nd article in two days by the end of the day. Both articles are relatively low competition keywords so I'm hoping for some nice results here.

My strategy stays the same: what I can do on my own, I will do on my own (and that is writing). When it comes to backlinks, I'm seriously considering buying some link package from BHW this month. I've heard positive reviews about the LinkPushing service by @BassTrackerBoats so I'm considering that one for now. I'm open to any other recommendations from you guys.

Apart from purchasing quality backlinks, I want to open a few WEB 2.0s on my own, too. It's not my priority for the month but once I reach my article/word count goal, I will move my attention to this.

Since I'm back to square one with the Amazon affiliate campaign, this month I want to deliver the first 3 sales again and finally get accepted for good.

Traffic wise, I'm hoping for at least 50% improvement on April.

May Plan:

Number of new articles to be added: 8-10 / 1 so far
Total words to be written: 30k-40k / 2k so far
Total do-follow links to be acquired: 2-3 / 0 so far
Organic users in May: 300-350 / 7 so far
Total sales to be made: 3 / 0 so far

Enjoy your day! :)

Great job keep on hustling! I am taking too long on my articles. I need to push a bit more my energy. I have a remote job so I only right after work hours. Goodluck to us both!

Great journey, did you started this website with a fresh or aged domain name?

I suggest that you target low competitive keywords.

Scenario1:
Targetting high competitive keyword, working for months and months to get your SERP up, not on page 1, few organic traffic,
continue the work until you reach page 1, then you start really earning.

Scenario2:
Targetting low competitive keyword, you get few visitors for each article you write, summing them up will be far better than the first scenario results,
continue of writing low competitive, traffic and backlinks will give you more authority to get a higher chance to rank in competitive keywords.
Rise step by step.

  • Apply for Adsense.
  • Use other affiliate links more than Amazon, make more suggestions for users.
  • Invest in high-quality backlinks, social shares.
Keep the right work Budd, i hope you found what you are looking for!

I've had a 9-5 job until just a few days ago. It's possible to combine mate, more focus! Something that works really well for me is using the Pomodoro technique to organize my time writing. Read about it.

Keyword-wise, that's what I'm doing. :)

I'm not sure if applying for Adsense makes any sense with my volume of traffic.

What type of links did you build till now? Can you share the service you used for this project?

MAY 11 UPDATE.

Hello all,

Since my last post, the most important things that have happened are as follows:
  • Got my "first" Amazon sale. Two to go before they review my application for the 2nd time!
  • Added two more articles. Both of them are based on easy-to-mid difficulty keywords with a total monthly search volume of 950. One of the articles is 2362 words long, the other one is 4855. Both are buyer-oriented.
  • Got 1 DF link from a niche-related HA forum thanks to Crowdo service from BHW Marketplace.
During the first day or two of the new Google Core Update, I feared that my site got butt-fucked heavily but it all seems to have calmed down and actually I got my 2nd article to #1 position for the main keyword phrase. In general, my main keyword didn't expect any drastic changes - thank fuck.

Currently, my site is enjoying around 10-12 organic users a day which sets me up nicely to reach my monthly goal of 300 unique visitors in May.

The plan for the remainder of the month stays unchanged: content, content, content.

I also want to invest in 1 or 2 quality backlinks but I'm yet to decide which service to use. I would greatly appreciate you to suggest something that's as white-hat as possible.

May Plan Update:

Number of new articles to be added: 8-10 / 3 so far
Total words to be written: 30k-40k / 9k so far
Total do-follow links to be acquired: 2-3 / 1 so far
Organic users in May: 300-350 / 109 so far
Total sales to be made: 3 / 1 so far

What type of links did you build till now? Can you share the service you used for this project?

Hi mate, sorry for the late reply. So far I only got one niche edit outside of BHW just after I started my site, it was on my friend's website. The other 2 links I have are on message boards - one I placed myself and the other I got from Crowdo service that you can find in the Marketplace.

Hey mate, nice journey. I've just started my affiliate website with amazon. But, I have a problem I don't know how to get a specific image from a product, I use the sitestripe but it takes only the main image which I don't like. How can I do this ??
