My eCommerce Site SEO

I have had a ecommerce site with <5 sales for the past few years with doing almost nothing related to SEO. I have had no clue on where shall i start or what to do to pass my competetors.

But after getting into a blog where I focused on page seo, I realized posting seo optimized content leads to more exposure in search engines. The blog got so many impressions on GSC (very few clicks though)

So, I was thinking if I can apply same thing for my e-commerce site. I can post several blog posts related to the niche and get more exposure and as far as i know it build up authority.

Please help me with below questions came up the same time:

01. Since the site is old and have had no much interaction or almost no updates, will that help boosting my site?
02. Where do i start if its not the correct path?
03. Where do i start building links to my site?

I have been reading so many SEO related articles for years now but had no luck on getting any money on it yet. your replies are much appreciated.

Why are you only focusing on SEO to drive traffic for ecommerce store ? Did you do research or just doing it because you THINK it's the right thing to do

Actually I was trying doing google ads once with one of the seller here who sold me a google ad account. Had first 2 sales from that as I made a huge amount per single click which is not viable with a genuine ad account. That was only worked for 2 days and got the google ad account baned.

I did try with my own genuine ad account but there were only few clicks had no sales. TBH i didnt put much budget as I was afraid getting losse as unexperience in that.

For your question, I did not do any research. I was only thinking its the right thing as i have no huge advertising budget and no idea how to.

Can you suggest any if you have idea on other methods please?

1. Yes, updating your old site helps boost visibility.
2. Start with an SEO audit, optimize on-page SEO, and create quality content.
3. Build links through guest blogging, quality content, influencer outreach, and directory listings.

havent heard that before. I feel the refferel marketing required a lot of effort than markertng my products. isnt it?

thank you. Am i correct that ecommerce sites too needs authority or many blog posts to build authority and it helps the products pages getting ranked too?
 
Start by researching keywords relevant to your products and creating valuable/ relevant blog content around those topics

probably the website is already out of the sandbox & passed some quality-raters/spam checks,
it won't have any more authority that will make you rank just for the sake of the website age, but better than starting out with a new one in most cases,

you're already in the right path, you've just didn't take any actions or made plans for the path,
your website needs authority to rank for the already optimized pages/keywords and such authority comes primarely from links,
just make sure to avoid dealing with sellers that sell links with fancy metrics and/or cheap traffic, most newbies/people really just fell for fake numbers,

solid links will require some good investement, you can use different type of links such as crowd (can be free), guest posts & PBNs,
just make sure you're getting links from geniune websites for both crowd & guest posting, actual real sites built & do rank for decent keywords,
if you want to get PBN links, building yours can be the best solution long-term, otherwise, go with link rental, there's no good link that you pay for 1-time,
there are plenty of scammers & misinformation in SEO, take your time to learn and explore before investing
 
If your site is old it will generally be easier to get pages indexed compared to a brand new site. But it will take consistent efforts and quality content to see any meaningful results. You can start by searching queries related to your niche in Google and looking at the People Also Ask section to get ideas for content. Best approach for ecommerce in my opinion is to have a blog section that provides helpful information related to the niche to achieve topical authority and show that your site is a reliable source of info for that subject. Then within your blog posts you can include internal links to your product/category pages where it makes sense. Regarding backlinks I personally wouldn't even start considering it until you have a decent amount of blog posts that are ranking on their own, then you can boost it up with backlinks. This is a best way! Create rewards , coupon codes etc.
at this moment if you have 1 store and doesn’t appear in Google or any search engine , what do you do?
 
Older domains can be advantageous, especially if they haven’t been penalized or have spammy backlinks.

- Use keyword research to target specific long-tail keywords that have lower competition but are still highly relevant to your products.

- Start with foundational links

- Consider optimizing your product pages, improving site speed.

Thank you for the input. i will be doing more articles and get more quality links. probably trying to do some pbn myself and get tier 2 links to them using GSA ranker.

im working remotely as a virtual assistant. basicaly with wordpress sites. looking to get into the SEO and earn more

thank you i will check how i can get foundation links. i have no big idea about them or how usefull they are
 
I’m in a similar situation.

Hopefully you have relevant search volume around your products.

1. Research More keywords
2. Post 30 blog posts
3. Update GSC / Sitemaps
4. Interlink effectively

thanks for the input. my main product have around 2K search volume for its main target keyword. there are other similar keywords too.

i have more products on the way trying to get them one by one.

will follow your tips.

would like to hear your journey updates too.

Interesting, as VA what is your function to grow the SEO of the site? I would be interested in this.
