My Boss is a BULLY! Can you help me?

Hi Guys,

I stumbled on this forum by accident last night and am hooked - I have been reading your posts for 6 hours straight. Can I ask for some friendly direction, I feel like i have info overload and not enough time!

Ok a brief rundown of what Im seeking is here -
***My question to you awesome people is - is there a way (program, technique, secret) that I can get my web design business up faster by somehow duplicating the ithemes website so that I can automate selling my wordpress template designs, is there some way I can duplicated a whole heap of design examples and put them up as my own design, I still plan on designing my own once I have more time? ***

*** I currently work as a Personal Assistant at a local bank, my boss is a genuine bully - he belittles me calls me frogs vomit and talking to me like I'm stupid which I am not! he plays horrible mind games every day. Financial commitments have me stuck there for now, but I spend every spare second (before work/after work and alllll weekend) studying Wordpress/Web Design/Internet Marketing - I have brought a reseller account from hostgator, am on twitter, and wordpress - Im trying so hard to find a way to start a successful business online so that I can resign and finally get some self respect back!
I know that my destiny is on the internet - I am fascinated by this forum as I knew nothing of blackhat techniques etc.
I recently spent $500 hard earned dollars on a subscription to ithemes (I know sucker) because I thought I would be slapped for using 'shareware nulled' templates by the web community - then I stumbled upon this forum and to my delight found like minded folk!
I am so frustrated - having spend months and $$$ on trying to start my own online Web Design Business - but I seem to be getting nowhere - designing a wp design takes me days - so I'm not making any money and putting in a lot of effort.
Before I tell my Bully boss to take my thankless job and - well fill it - Id love to make my $500 back. *** :rolleyes:

I live in Australia - am I disadvantaged by this - will I have issues with the tax/opening accounts etc?

Any ideas/techniques/secrets will be soooooo appreciated - if I can leave my horrible job by following someone's advice I will repay them by designing a wordpress website just for them for free!!!

I dont see much money in reselling wordpress themes because if you just google "____theme download or warez" you can find it free lol.

As for good ways to make quick cash, try this:

Get firmiliar with CL or facebook ads
Join an affiliate network
Find an offer that you think you could make a nice site with
Using your WP skills, find / make a theme that would be a perfect landing page to sell your offer.
Drive traffic to your landing page via CL or facebook ads
Watch the $$ roll in ( k, not that easily though, id say you may nothing and the second you start making money, you start making a LOT. Thats usually how it works. You understand 99% of what you need to know, but your making $0. Then you get that final 1% and your profits jump through the roof)

Hopefully this was helpful. Check the Affiliate programs and CPA section here on bhw. Use the search bar for finding any software and downloads you need to get your business started.

The other members can advise you how to get up and running better than me, but as for the bully boss situation, I am an expert. There is only one thing bully's will understand and that is if you stand up for yourself and don't be a weakling. You might be there a long time until you find another job or get your web biz up. Don't take his shit. If he is talking to you that way, carry a recorder in your purse and capture some of it. It will make great evidence one day.

From my experience, if I were you first of all, don;t be tied to a situation you hate no matter how good the money is. Life is way too short to be miserable. Having 2 p/t jobs that you remotely like or can tolerate is better than being miserable and belittled full time, so consider leaving. It will change your outlook so fast. If and when you do leave, confront your bully boss and tell him you have his rants on tape and will be considering a harassment suit or send a copy into the HR dept. See the fear of god in his eyes then.
 
They should have called it Black Hole World, because it will suck you in forever if you don't stop reading. My rule for myself is if I don't know what to do for my free time, I come to BHW and look for an hour, and if I can't decide then I just start writing blogs. Get yourself an adsense account and a wordpress theme and just start blogging things that you think will be searched for in Google. Like you could start out with stuff you know about like banking questions. Don't spend time worrying about looks, you just need content for google. Some people even say ugly sites get more clicks on ads because visitors want to leave. GOOD LUCK!
 
I can help on two fronts: first lets look at making money online:

What you are doing now is waaaaaaaaaaaay too much work. I'm sorry to hear you invested in it already...but I have to say that money was poorly spent. You need to get your head in the CPA game. This is what I would recommend to you: find the thread on BHW with a title like "get approved by any cpa/affiliate network" and read it carefully. Next go on g00gle and find 8 or 9 cpa networks, apply to all of them. Expect to get rejected by some. Once you have been approved by a few, go on CL and start pumping their offers. You will want to research that on BHW a little too becuase there are lots of creative methods listed here that definitely work (I use them myself, easy money) And you will be up making money sooner than you would imagine. Next $500 you invest should go into an autoposter, proxies, PVAs to maximize your CL efforts.

For your boss, I hate bullies, especially at work, where you HAVE to be there to provide for yourself. What I would recommend in this situation is a bit of a long con. For one, carry a digital recorder in your pocket. Just keep starting it over every 2 hours if he doesnt say anything bad. Bring extra batteries with you to work so you can be sure you have it on all day, for as long as it takes for him to slip up. At the same time, as nauseating as this may be, be reeeeally nice to him. Not slutty, but nice, and innocent. You want him to say something innapropriate. So you have to lure him into this. wear something revealing maybe. Get him to say something sexual or offensive, then laugh and tell him to stop. Then get him to say something else (maybe on seperate days). If you get him making repeated lewd statements or sexual advances, or demeaning you, and you have it on tape, he is f-u-c-k-e-d. You can have all sorts of fun with this. Persona;lly I would hire an attorney, or lawyer, barrister, whatever you call them there, and play them the tape, and explain that you have a MANAGER AT A BANK harrassing/sexually harassing you. Sit back and watch him get fired / the bank make a settlement with you so that you do not sue them.

Ever hear of the 10,000 hour rule to mastering a skill? It's been said that you need to put in roughly 10,000 hours of your time to become good at something. I'm 47 and I've mastered a few things in my lifetime and I would agree with this maxim.

I think I'm up to hour 2,000 for Internet Marketing.
 
Wow thank you all so much - I was hesitant to see the responses thinking I would be told off for rambling on. But you really took time to help me out with some great advice.

Ok so next step is finding out what CL and CPA is all about.
I just finished reading this thread - make-500-day-giving-people-free-websites-offline-marketing thread - which added to my inspiration as a web designer but was then followed shortly by more confusion i.e too many ideas. Have you ever had that frustration where you feel like you have been spending so much of yourself and getting nowhere - and scared it wont ever get anywhere! :confused:

As for the boss - he is very intimidating - but that is just seen as good people management. Last year the members of the board started questioned the high turnover in his division (20 staff members were bullied into resigning in 12 months - 5 were actually long term bank managers) they had the HR dept counsel him for bullying which were just a couple of ridiculous half hour meetings called 'Raising your profile'. In other words he has the HR manager in his pocket.
I want to stand up to him - but in the beginning when I initially did this he shut the door to his office and yelled and yelled (mind you the other General Managers could hear this and chose to turn a blind eye) - I turned into a sobbing wreck, I guess that was the moment I lost my power. I guess I'm just making silly excuses for not leaving - its amazing how easily I can doubt myself these days!
I'm only 30 I should be flipping him off and trying to take on the world lol! Ho Hum Maybe I will one day still ~ I have the passion!

Ok enough of my pathetic ramblings - I think I will be spending some valuable time here - and yes the one hour rule should be golden!

Ill read some more about the CL and CPA - Hopefully in a few months you will be receiving a custom design from me in gratitude of your help. :)

Don't think your an Idiot for spending $500, trust me, the majority of successful people on this forum and by successful I mean making money $100+ a day every day would have wasted 10 times that amount to get to were they are, I think to get to were I am I have spent 4-5k on crap, and I am also in Australia so it ends up being more with the exchange rate and everything, I would use that loss of $500 as something to remember, To learn off the next time you have a urge for an impulse buy and if your in the IM world you will have the chance for many impulse buys.

Don't look at it as wasted money that you got nothing out of. You actually learned quite a bit. You KNOW what it;s like to be a shitty position. You KNOW what it's like to hate your job. You KNOW what's it like to try everything and anything under the sun to get away from working for an a-hole of a boss. There are millions of people out there who feel the same way as you do. Now take the lessons you learn here at BHW and tap into those emotions of those millions of people and get them to complete your offers or sign up for you webhosting affiliate (The make-500-day-giving-people-free-websites-offline-marketing thread thread is an awesome thread that ahs also inspired me to take action).

The best revenge on your boss, and another shit-head is to live a better life than them. Make a shit load of money using BH methods and live the life you have always wanted, leaving that pathetic chump to continue working at his awful desk job. (Although I do like BigHustlah's long con tape recorder plan. But seriously, living a better life than him will be more rewarding in the long run.) Good luck.
 
I made one mistake when I first discovered BHW. I kept reading about different methods that people where making money with. But I made no money because I only read, no application. And as I was wondering why I wasn't making any money (as foolish as that may sound), I kept reading. Until I became confused as hell. Then I discovered the download section. So, still in search of a solution to my 'not-making-any-money' problem, I started downloading, reading and dumping until my hard disk became as slow and overloaded as my brain.

It wasn't until I wiped my hard disk and brain clean, came back to BHW, selected a single method and applied it that I started to make money.

I believe a lot of people still make this mistake. So just before you fall into this trap, here's my advice:

Don't figure it all out before you get started. Nothing inhibits success more than trying to know it all before starting. If there is anything like 'knowing it all', it only comes from practicing, not merely reading. So find a method that looks right for you (and that has worked for many), and do it fu*king now!

I won't attempt to advise you about making money, blackhat or any other method, there are fair more qualified and experienced people on this site, just spend a bit of time and you will quickly find thje people with the 'biggest hats' ahem!
As for the bulling at work I have been there far too often than I'd like say, BUT what you must do every time is have a witness to every incident that occurs, if it's just you and your boss, say "stop, I like to have a witness present here before we proceed" if not just walk away and tell someone EVERY time, belive me bullies don't like this one bit, good luck.

So far so good , say thanks god you didn't paid more money on non-profit stuff's . Listen at few points short and cleary :
1. do not expect to make any penny from selling wordpress themes , anyway if you have some custom made wp themes they will finish most probably shared for free on forums like this one ... So you will work for free. :)
2. If you love to design / code even if you only have just some artistic feelings - USE them to create your own well painted sites !
3. Was said up by others cpa/affiliate programs / even adsense or any other way to make money - Since you are already familiar with wordpress is great , means you can create by your own with very small costs your landing pages
4. Never give up and always learn from mistakes from the past , under this form are shared loads of tricks and loads of knowledge's some of them are riskily in terms of safely from the '' ban hammer '' .
5. One more .... never put all your eggs under one only basket ! Try to spare the income revenue sources , and since it's seems you already chose to learn CMS theme creation try to look always at all others cms sistems ( drupal/joomla/vivvo / vbulletin / phpb ... and so on ... once you learn one you can manage to work on all others ;) )
 
Hello again - just thought Id give a quick update to anyone interested - The Bully was 'walked' today! He was totally unprepared and unaware that the board were planning his swift removal. They were just waiting for the right moment. He was finished up within the hour and a HR rep watched him pack up his office and waled him out of the building!
A small victory for the good guys!
Now on to bigger and better things!

Firstly being Australian is no issue, in fact it can be viewed as a positive, the majority of large affiliate/CPA networks are run out of the US and require minimal tax info :)

Which state are you from. We are currently looking for a new designer (simple template work) to cater to some of our smaller clients.

If your on the Western side of the country PM me your resume we may have just the job for you, and best of all the boss is an aswome guy!
