So I finally had one of my articles do really well, got me 5K+ hits in a single day,

It's been a couple days so I thought I would search it on google, however when I search three other sites come up on the front page, one with my EXACT content. How are these guys outranking me and so fast?

I'm not even in the first ten pages of google results, how is that possible after all that link juice?

There's really no definitive answer to your question unless you show us your search engine results and the offending out ranker.

Well my article is called "10 Coding Tips to Write Superior jQuery Plugins" and the site is websanova dot com

when I search "jQuery coding tips" I'm nowhere to be seen, yet all these guys are up there.

It doesn't bother me so much that they copied me, it's the internet and I'm a small fry. I really just want to know how to get ranked so quickly like they do.

Is it because they are more established and trusted by google? Is it possible I have been penalized in some way? I can't imagine why, I haven't done any SEO at all on this other that organic so far.

Before DMCA you might try just e-mailing him to remove it.

How old/well-linked is his site vs yours?

Do they reference your site on the article at all or link back to you?

Sorry to tell you but web guys trying to get fresh new content will just flat out steal anything they get their hands on these days.

That is why article marketing works so well, you publish a great article and ppl all over the web will grab it and redistribute all over the place.

The reason they are outranking you on the post is there site is already ranked to begin with prior to them posting your tut. if they have a PR 5 and are posting your article onto one of their pages and you just started your site they will rank #1 every time. I would send them a direct email like mentioned above and request they remove your content asap. 9 times out of 10 they will right away to avoid problems....

Ya, I'm amazed how much it was ripped off.

It turns out most of the keywords they are ranking for are extremely low to begin with, like < 10 anyway, so not a biggie.

They do have backlinks, so at least I got that much.

    Thanks.

Report the site to google. They'll take down the ranking if your claim can be proved.

Welcome on the internet. Now, this is how you get a free link. Contact them with a DMCA complain BUT tell them they can keep the content up only if they link (d0f0llow) from it to your page from where they copied it. Some do, some just take it down. Regardless, you win!

The same thing happen with me. When I submit my article at triond. Copying articles or spinning articles are becoming a challenge against the copyright issues.

Thanks for the template, just sent it off.

I did a whois lookup on the site, it's located in China, so not sure how successful I will be with the email.

How do I send this out to google if I should need to?

join the club... my advice is send a short email to the offenders (and keep for future use) as others here have described, and then move on and hope they comply... Sounds harsh, but the time spent "fighting" with them, their host, google etc could be better spent writing more articles. Even if these guys take it down, it will just keep happening again and again.

Their host will definitely shut them down if they don't.

Unless they are hosted in durka durka stan or something...

It sounds like your article went viral. That is great! This is what happens when something goes viral: other people publish it because they think it's great. They also publish a whole bunch of links to your site. If you have done no SEO for your site it is not wonder that they are outranking you. Google is still processing what is going on with your site. Next time you have an article go viral you will have a stronger site and will likely be the one ranking on top. It just takes a while for Google to figure out what do to.

Do not issue any more DMCA complaints because this whole thing was a very good thing and you want it to happen again. If you issue DMCA complaints webmasters will be less likely to link to you and send you traffic when you write another amazing article that goes viral.
