My Adult Website Journey

Hi BHW!

I'm new to IM and i currently have 2 projects on the go. One is an adult site and the other is a SFW authority site. I've lurked and researched here for a little while and the project where I am most unsure of myself is my adult website project. So I figured why not make a journey thread about it and maybe some good advice might pop up along the way. This also is a good incentive to keep working on it. At the moment I have a lot of real life stuff on the go, from work to doing taxes to relationship issues, so I can not promise something like daily updates (at least not for the next 4 weeks) but I believe its better to just get started and let the chips fall how they may. A nice starting goal would be 500 a month, but I am not giving myself a specific deadline and i'm not really holding myself to that goal. Of course I want to make money but learning is also a goal

A couple days ago I had this really good idea for an Adult website. Of course I am not going to go into the little details as I think I have found a nice, winning little niche and I really want to make this work.

1. No one else is doing it (There is literally nothing specifically for this niche that is easily found, though there are related niches, except for spam linking to unrelated porn)

2. I can make Original Content and/or semi- Original content (Most adult threads i've read here are people with zero original content, reposting videos to their own tube sites or trying to find a working auto-blogging solution all the while complaining about no money. If there was no money in porn, no one would do it.)

3. Original content is easy to make.

4. Statistically, in the real world, lots of people are interested in this. Especially, demographics with money.

5. It's legal, at least in my current location.

6. It's actually interesting for me and kind of hot

7. Low cost entry

8. It's something where with a little effort I can build a devoted following over time

9. Domain is free as well are related domain names

10. I can parasite some traffic from loosely related niches

11. The niche and my chosen domain name(s) are still vague enough to allow for expansion without getting ridiculous

So I have started putting content together. I am travelling a lot over the next few days and I can put a lot more content together during the many hours on the road. My plan is to post OC every day or two to the main website, so I am attempting to have enough content to automate for at least a month or two. Yes, I may have dissed the auto-bloggers but I am using some of the techniques with some twists for the site.

I have bought the domain and have hosting for the website. For the moment I am using some short term cheap shared hosting (yay, coupons) from a reputable hosting service. (advice on other adult friendly hosting services would be great) I've read enough and been around enough to know that unlimited bandwidth/disk space isn't really unlimited, but it should be more than enough for now. If I feel that bandwidth and disk usage is getting too high, I will migrate either to another hoster or upgrade the server, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

I will be setting up various official blog clones and official social media sites. These will be run in a business like fashion. no spamming or other funny stuff, no 20k followers in a day. Official twitter, tumblr, blogspot, plus all the usual adult site suspects (xhamster, motherless, empflix, etc etc etc). Once I have them all set up I will post which sites I have used. I will, for now, avoid Instagram, pinterest, facebook etc., more on that later. Suggestions are welcome.

I currently am enrolled with NO adult affiliates/advertising sites. This is one of the areas I am unsure of myself. Many threads here regarding adult affiliates are old and I cant trust the reliability of comments from 2+ years ago as to payouts and reliability of these companies. Any tips would be much appreciated. Once the website goes online I will apply for crakrevenue. That one seems to still be working reliably. I am still researching the various sites offering dating and cams but am at a bit of a loss which ones to apply to. I have no problems with email or telephone verification.

I am looking to have all of the above completed in the next week. After that, the fun stuff begins. As I will have a quality product, the key becomes traffic, traffic, traffic. It will be time to proxy up (maybe a vps?) and get churning those tumblr and twitter accounts out. Here is where i may start throwing out various facebook, pinterest, instagram accounts. I know now to keep it naughty but SFW.

so, thats the current standing and I hope to update in the next few days, maximum 1 week with my progress.

UPDATE

So. I am not as far along as I expected. My home away from home is no longer that as things are now finished with my girlfriend. Finding a place to stay for the next weeks was the priority. That is now achieved so I can get back to concentrating on work, both internet and real world. While this was going on I also had some laptop issues which lead to losing some OC and not having access to the laptop for a few days. I now have my laptop working.
In the mean time I was able to get a few things done....

1. made a spreadsheet of keywords (thesaurus and google are awesome. I also had some friends who helped with some of the more creative terms). I will use this for tagging, seo (i'm poor, i'll buy the fancy packages later later), etc. I am still adding words to it but it is mostly complete

2. Sorting content. I'm trying to go for quality but this has taken longer then expected. There is a point where things start to run together, if you know what I mean.

3. files of unsorted content for twitter, tumblr, etc etc are prepared.

Unfortunately I was unable to get any actual website work done. I'm planning on setting up the accounts at various sites (tumblr, etc) now. website up tomorrow after work (at least the basics).

this is more fun then I expected. I'm hoping I have enough time to get the work in that I want to get in.

UPDATE

so, I have too many real life issues at the moment. I've lived in three different places in the past week, it's currently a busy season for work, a really good friend had a total breakdown, had to move all my stuff somewhere (thank you ex), government bureaucrats are breathing down my neck, etc.

so, not much work has been done besides further research and planning.

I had some hosting problems as I was a bit naive. My situation is complex, but I find it a bit sad that doing things honestly is more difficult than through +9000 proxies. Hosting issues cost me the few days where I had time to actually work on the website.

I still have not sorted all the content as I suffer from lack of privacy, but I have so much content that i have my eye on about 20 other related and somewhat related domains that I will grab when I get paid. Once they are all up, It should be a decent network. some will directly link and others will be seperate sites where i can crosspost etc. After all the stuff going on, the thought of it is very pleasing.

After a very unfortunate situation regarding domains and hosting where I learned what I had already read 100 times here, I have now rebought domains and bought hosting from another host. Thankfully the domains I had already bought weren't mysteriously snatched up.

Even though things are slow, I am really enjoying all the learning, research, experimenting. It's quite exciting.

also joined plugrush, totemcash, along with some region and language specific advertising companies.
