Multiple languages on one domain SEO

Hi there,

want build multilanguage website ( wordpress ).

First idea was install multiple wordpress on directories ( domain.com/en, domain.com/es ) but with this setup it will be so much work to edit templates, pages etc., because i will be using so much languages.

What if i insert languages as categories on one single domain an wordpress install ( domain.com/category/en, domain.com/category/es ) and will publish posts in different languages?

It will be the most easy way, but the thing is - there wont be hreflang tag. In multiple installation, i will had in every directory hreflang for specific language. Will that be ok for seo to not to have hreflang, just multiple languages on single domain?

Mate, there's plugins for that. Have you tried WPML, Langify, Weglot? I think that's what they're called.

They allow you to translate 1 site into 100's of languages. Don't do it manually like you're suggesting in your post please, it will just be a waste of time

From experience working with multi-language websites, you should have a custom code. Why? Each country is different and depending on what your website will be you will need country-specific features, which you cannot achieve with Wordpress or ready-made plugins, so you will have to hire someone to do this. Why you want to start with Wordpress and then end-up spending hundreds of dollars each month for new features, coding, when you can start from scratch with a custom code, fast, easy to maintain?

Go for plugins that are already developed to help you.

A mix the multiple languages on the same page, the audience believed to be multilingual or there might be the need for embedded foreign text. An online foreign dictionary is a common such a site.
