moving from blogger to wordpress. need help

I am thinking about making new website on wordpress please help me with these question?
1) what wordpress people talking about .com or .org???
2) ok, i have a domain address and a hosting already purchased can i use it on wordpress.
3) i want to use wordpress free just like blogger...with functionality like... ads placement and others i tried installing it from hosting, in demo i find no ads placement feature? i simply want ads placement feature.
4) i want to run contests on site? also functions like popup with newslister subscribe on website opening etc etc.
so where i get all these above functionality? free???

So you want self hosted wordpress. for the function of ads placement, it is depends on the wordpress theme you use, where do you want to place your ads, in the sidebar, top header? In wordpress, If you want a function like popup with newsletter, subscriber, then you can use wordpress plugins for those.

There are free and paid wordpress plugins, free is enough but limited feature

when you say wordpress which wordpress did you mean? .org or .com
 
Wordpress.com is similar to blogger. Wordpress.org is what most people here use.

Wordpress.org is "self-hosted wordpress", you said you already have hosting and domain, so whatever domains you have, then you can install and have self-hosted wordpress website
Wordpress.com is "free wordpress blogging platform" which you can register and get free blog and subdomain url like "yoursite.wordpress.com"
 
you can put your ads inside a widget. for other functionalities you may want, you can search for plugins from within your wordpress installation or you can go to wordpress.org or maybe you can find very useful plugins shared here on bhw

If your host uses an auto-installer should be very simple to install.
