Monitoring One Website That Use BH SEO

Hi,
I m monitoring one website that uses black hat link building. In fact, it uses so bad link building methods that it is funny that is not getting penalized.

I m wondering, how is that possible?

The website is with premium content and design, and it looks really nice. BUT link building technique is a hell of spam. Not only backlinks are provided on web 2.0, but whoever made them just copy pasted original articles from the main website and post them on web 2.0 like wordpress.com, blogspot.com and so on. And it is done heavily.

Do you think this website will be penalized? And if that is so, when?

Right now will enter in top 10 for a 150 000 monthly search keyword that is heavy buying keyword with the sale in the keyword. That means this guy is already making a hell of a profit and I m also thinking that Google will not penalize him, probably because he have premium content and nice design, what do you think?

Can you get away with spammy copy paste articles that are same as on your main page?

Spam and BH tactics still work. Possible that they will receive a penalty in future but not all site are made to last, if he is banking then he may have a churn and burn strategy.

What do you mean if he continues? Of course he will stop when he gets in top 10, he probably already stopped now because for the heavy hard keyword he got in top 20 in less than half year.

And yes, he sure does have high authority backlinks, do you think that is making him safe from penalties? Or maybe premium design and premium content is making him free from penalties?

What you described does not technically violate Google guidelines. It's typical syndication. Google's duplicate content guidelines include:

"Syndicate carefully: If you syndicate your content on other sites, Google will always show the version we think is most appropriate for users in each given search, which may or may not be the version you'd prefer. However, it is helpful to ensure that each site on which your content is syndicated includes a link back to your original article. You can also ask those who use your syndicated material to use the noindex meta tag to prevent search engines from indexing their version of the content."

and

"Duplicate content on a site is not grounds for action on that site unless it appears that the intent of the duplicate content is to be deceptive and manipulate search engine results. If your site suffers from duplicate content issues, and you don't follow the advice listed above, we do a good job of choosing a version of the content to show in our search results."

They can repeat the content anywhere that will let them if they "ensure that each site on which your content is syndicated includes a link back to your original article." It's "not grounds for action" unless the intent is to manipulate SERPs, which in this context Google means as having the same content rank for the same search, which this won't if it's set up as you describe.

IMHO, the duplicate content is giving them at most a modest boost by cranking up the number of referring domains, but I doubt it's the secret to their success. For the most part, Google probably ignores the "syndicated" content. As you mention, the on-page is quite good, and there's probably more links out there that you don't know about.

I know all links and yes there are some quality links from authority websites with DA over 70, but as well some other spam links like bog commenting and forum posting. I mean you don't need to be genius to see that user registered made few posts and in some of them included links and after that never logged back to the forum.

Same can be said for blog commenting. So I see these black hat methods and I m wondering how come this website is not penalized, and I know my website got penalized heavily when I was doing these techniques back in the day. Is it possible they are doing something that keeps them under the radar from Google? But how come they are under the radar if i found out they are manipulating SERPS in just 1 minute by looking at their backlinks?

IMHO, over the past year or so, Google has turned down the triggering for automatic spam link detection. I see it in my niche too: strong rankings through blatant comment spam, forum profile links, exact match domain name forwarding, etc. I can point to several highly competitive searches where not one of the top ten results has a single organic link, it's all obvious spam. The white hat sites sit in the 20s to 40s.

Right now, spam linkbuilding works. Why? Who knows. Maybe because Google is afraid negative SEO works too well. Maybe because Google wants to make organic ranking harder to push sites into using AdWords. It doesn't matter why, the evidence is right in front of you.

For now, spam links work. A couple caveats, though.

• I doubt it will go on forever. At some point they'll ramp Penguin back up.
• Google will still sometimes take manual action when spamming is brought to their attention.
• High authority sites likely have spam links counted in their favor or ignored.
• Low authority sites are still at risk for automatic penalties and/or deindexing.

You can make a disposable site, spam the hell out of it, and expect it to die. You can take a calculated risk with a money site and only spam it a little. Or you can ignore it and keep going white hat.

It aint blackhat linkbuilding it's content curation/syndication, nothing he will ever get penalized for, if he really sucks at it he might get a manual review but even that wont trigger a penalty.

So you are saying, even if a google worker check the website backlinks and see obvious pattern that he is manualy building links to manipulate SERPS he will not get penalized?
If you are saying something else please explain because what you write above makes no sense to me.

I have a feel you're talking about my site (we know each other from another, local forum), am I right? Those web 2.0 properties you found are not very important. 3-4 web 2.0s that auto re-post your original articles can't make you any damage.

In the other hand, web 2.0 links are not spam links in most of cases. You need some link diversity, which means web 2.0s, blog comments etc. Can play on your side if you know what you're doing.

If people would get banned for this, it would be so easy to destroy all your competitors.

Hi, yes we know each other from another forum, you are pretty famous there. Most probably I m monitoring your website. Don't worry I will not place links to your website anywhere. I just asked a question because I m hired to do SEO for a website in the same niche as yours.

I m only doing onsite SEO, but employer show me one example of the website to see what he want to accomplish. Most probably your site. But as I said I m not building backlinks for him; I only do content check and repair as well as other on-site SEO practices.

But as I added your website to my monitoring list, just to compare my onsite SEO vs. yours (or whoever this site is) aggressive link building, just wanted to see the difference. But I won't see it because my employer decides to go with aggressive link building as well. So there is not much of a difference now to monitor.

You can say same: If people manipulated SERPs so easy, then it would be so easy to outrank your competition.

Please read the thread, someone else already stated that, stop giving useless answers copied from others to increase your postcount.

That is exactly what I am saying, content curation isn't against googles guidelines, infact they incaourage it if it is usefull to the reader, if the site does get a manual review and if it's curated with the entire article and nothing else just reposting the article and only reposting from that site the worst thing that can happen is that these links will be given a slightly lesser value, hoever not enough to hurt the rankings of the site since it links back to the original content, the sites that would lose rank is only the web 2.0's.
If this tactic would get penalized, you can bet that any real blackhatter out there would be using this against their competitors.
I do hope that the guy uses more than just this one tactic for ranking otherwise his rankings are ripe for picking and easily taken over for anyone how konws just a bit about seo.
