I've always built my money sites on fresh domains, but I've been wondering, would using an expired domain result in better and faster rankings than a brand new domain? (faster because it already has a link profile when it's set-up?) I figure the age doesn't carry over since the domain has expired, but the links still carry quite a bit of power with them so it seems it'd be worth it to give up the freedom to name my own domains. My main concern though is whether or not the fact that the domain comes with a preset anchor profile will make it more difficult for me to rank for the actual niche I want to rank for? For example, If my niche was in cell phones but the expired domain I want to use is based in televisions, could the TV anchors actually make ranking for cell phones harder? I've also thought about attaching the expired domain as a 301 redirect to a fresh domain, could that be a better option? I'm ranking with PBNs anyway so it'd be a small switch to make from a PBN to 301. Thank you for any advice you might have, appreciate it!
