I have an amazon affiliate as my money site.
I am getting very few clicks. I currently have almost no backlinks.
I am trying to decide on my next step.

Here is what i have been thinking.
1) Start making a pbn with expired domains and then using the pbn to link to my money site, and aim for some medium keywords
the issue is that too make a half decent pbn it is going to take some money.

Option 2
Make a pbn with web 2.0. and using a few guest posts
and target low competion keywords, in order to generate a little bit of revenu.

I think option 2 is easier, but if i do option #1 , i think the upside is greater.

I would suggest you to try the second method, because it's easier, faster and cheaper. You can later add PBNs to your system, if you see first results in ranking. Furthermore there are tools to automate web 2.0 posting, linking and even creation. But be aware! You will need a lot of web 2.0 posts/blogs to rank your keywords and you need to get your web 2.0 blogs indexed, which can take a lot of time without tier 2 links.

I had the same issue.

Started with web 2.0 network of sites and built up some backlinks. Closely watched my analytic and over time it started to pay off. But you have to use low competitive keywords and be patient. The good think about web 2.0s is they are free and you can build backlinks through BH techniques that most likely won't effect your money site as they provide a bit of a buffer.

Then after a while of seeing results start slowly with option 1. Research good domains and go through all of the hurdles to do it right. I started with 1 domain per month and had an entire formula for not only choosing the domain, but a strategy for building backlinks to it.

So, yeah:

Option 2, then if you see results (thus showing the market has some ROI), then add option 1.

Thank you all. Follow up question. I notice a BST threads that offer this service. But it appears to be a short one page site with a graphic and a link to your MS.
Would it be better for me to make some real web 2.0, aka have 5-10 articles and make it a mini-mini website that points to my ms. I assume the answer is yes. But do you think that this makes enough difference thats its worth spending the time on it?

To your first question - no it won't make any real impact on your serps. In fact depending on who is doing it and how, it could cause a negative result. One-time blasts to your MS are quick money sales pitches that people use to get your money - they don't work. Not to say that there are not quality BH experts here, but the campaign needs to be done right and over a long period of time.

SEO has to be long-term and a mix of white, grey and black.

Here's my advice and you probably won't like it:

Build at least 10 web 2.0 sites manually. Write the content manually. Make it authoritative, compelling and something that you would want to read. Please don't hire non-English speaking freelancers as they will probably just scrape, spin and post.

Next post at least 5 original articles to each web 2.0. Make sure you have properly used your keyword and linked it to a page on your MS that is optimized for that keyword (linking everything to the home page of your MS is a bad idea - you need quality built pages a that are made to rank for the keyword).

Now you can use BH tools to build backlinks to your web 2.0. But don't stop there.

Try to create at least one new original article weekly to your web 2.0. Follow the same formula (create the MS keyword page) and anchor the web 2.0 site to that page. Diversify, meaning don't keep linking to the same page.

Stay on-task for a while (like 3 months). Study your analytics, webmaster tools, etc. Do you have SEMrush? It would help to optimize your site and help you to make the best on-page keyword links.

Next build up your social signals.

There's more, but I don't want to overwhelm you. SEO is only successful when you do it right and don't fall for 'we'll get you on page 1 within 24 hours' crap. It can be a long journey, but worth it if done right.

Stay committed and you will see results.

Start with option 2 and then slowly build up a PBN to get better and stronger links for the longterm value! It gets you started for a cheaper price, but in the long run a PBN is better and maybe you can use it for more than one money site :)

Good luck!

Hi, how did this work out for you? Plan 1 or 2 went well?

For the first free backlinks I would prefer option 2, but then in the long run I would choose option 1 and set up a private PBN

You can always rank some of the web 2.0s for easier keywords as well to help bring traffic in. As for how many articles, you can pay a bit more and ask the seller to add more articles.
