Monetizing tumblr with ads

I started a my first internet marketing venture with a tumblr blog 2 days ago after reading a post on here. The top of my blog has all of the ads centered at the top because thats the only place I knew where to put them because I have no experience with html.

So far I have 321 posts, 23 subscribers, and 258 page views (I have a counter). But the problem is I only have 7 clicks on my ads

The only tools I am using are the tumblr queue uploader.


I have seen people using lots of different types of tools, but all of these abbreviations make it hard for beginners like myself. Can someone shine some light on what my next step is?

Heya buddy, first of if it's plugrush ads i.e adult niche. Remove the ads imediatly! Tumblr will ban your a** almost instantly! If it's adsense then I know they aren't banning these at the moment not sure how long it will be before they do though. Secondly get some hosting and install wordpress. If you can't afford hosting then had to blogger.com and create a blogspot blog, although I highly recomend wordpress as it's more easier to arrange ad placement. As for tools, there are quite a few. You allready have the que poster which is great and will probally be the most used tool As for bots to follow and that check out the link in my sig for a cheap bot $12 (not aff link) or search for tumblforce if you have money to spare. Also if you want anymore help shoot me a pm with your skype and I'll add you to our new group We have a thread in the lounge about it if you wanna check it out before hand. O as for the ad placement on your blog, if you do want to keep them on your tumblr blog let me know where abouts you want them posted and also tell me your theme name and I'll look into it for you.

The ads I had were Juicyads because I couldn't get plugrush to work on tumblr, but they have since been removed. Thanks for the tip though, probably saved my account!

I'm looking into wordpress right now, but how does wordpress, hosting, and tumblr all merge together? Whats the end result? Also, what does wordpress do for my website that tumblr doesn't already do?

As for ad placement, I removed them. But I imagine to make any kind of money with this I will need to put some kind of appropriate ad on there.

Sorry for all the questions but I have literally never done anything like this before.

Haha it's cool, we all start somewhere. Well wordpress/blogger are basically a fail safe to stop your accounts getting banned! On the wue bot you have 4 fields, yout tags, email, pass and clikthru. The clickthru is how you get traffic to your site, make a wordpress/blogspot, shrink it useing url shortners (google) and then set it up in spintax form so for example {url1|url2|url3|url4} then post that into the clikthru field. What this does is choose one of the urls at random and sets the url for the post/photo as one pf them, in turn this sends the traffic to your money site This stops tumblr from banning you for ads and the reason we use the spintax is because if you only post the same clikthru all the time tumblr will catch on and ban every account that posted the link if that makes sense Anymore questions feel free to ask away

So for the same money earning blog I have 4 different shortened links, and the bot alternates posting them in the clickthru? That seems like it may be worthwhile for getting some high traffic once I get a nice base of followers on tumblr.

What types of things would I put on this website in terms of advertisements?

I was checking out webhosting over at GoDaddy and was probably going to go the free route until I can make a few bucks to cover the expense of the domain name and the monthly fees. The Deluxe WordPress package was looking for for $7 a month if this all goes to plan.

I use a hosting company called host-stage.net I've got nothing but good things to say about them, I've literally just got of support to them as invoice was due today but paypal were douches and forced me to send a e-check. Invoice extended to the 25th more than enough time for the e-check to clear. They let you pay monthly and are cheap, starter package is $1.99 a month and you get a free subdomain but I'd recomend getting a .info if you're really strapped for cash. You can pick these up at namecheap for as little as $1.99 a year.

As far as advertisement goes that's intirely down to you, if it's adult you could put plugrush/juicyads even a cam aff link. Literally I can't decide that one for you as your niche is your choice. Easiest way to answer that question is browse the forum, read up on PPC, CPA, any other thing that takes your fancy, email marketing for instance! Once you have decided what you want to go with then look at joining a CPA network or PPC network, if it's email marketing then you would have to research that oneyourself as I know nothing about that subject. Heck you could even go for a clickbank route and find a product to promote related to your traffic. The world is your oyster as they say! The internet is a bloody huge world

and lastly, yep that'sexaclty right, the bot will choose a completly random link from the spintaxed list, same goes for your tags. Once you have a fair few accounts I'd suggest getting a long list of shortened urls in your spun list, go to google and search "list of url shorterners" without the " " spend a hour going threw the list, save them in a .txt.. Trust me you will thank your self later

Edit: I forgot, just incase you're not sure the spun list for the tags is slightly different to the url section, tags are seperated by a "," like so: {tag1,|tag2,|tag3,}

You can also do it so a certain tag is ALLWAYS included like so: {tag1,|tag2,|tag3,} "included", {taga,|tagb,|tagc,}
What this wil do is choose one random tag from 1, 2 or 3 and then include the unspun tag in this case the "included" and then go on to choos a random tag from the a, b, c section Just don't include the " "

Looking through a few free hosting sites, nothing is really doing it for me, and since a few start up bucks is not an issue, although I would rather not waste money.... I checked out host stage, and thinking about getting a nice $10 per year domain there.

As far as setting up Wordpress on that site, would I just need to use the filezilla client and transfer the file? I've browsed around FileZilla's interface and how would I go about getting my host, username, password, and port?


Not being allowed to post links or reply with a tag is getting annoying.

host stage do have a softolicous option so you can install wordpress at the touch of a button but if you do wanna go the ftp route then login to your cpanel, the username and pass you set will be what you use for filezilla. Once you have logged into your cpanel you will have a menu on the left hand side, scroll down untill you see i.p. that's what you need to put into filezilla with your login creds as for port you don't need it just hit auto connect

I just bought a .kom (the "k" is a "c") domain from host-stage, but I'm guessing that was only the domain name and not the hosting too because when I type in the site I get a server not found page. Rookie mistake I guess, I need to get hosting too.

Also, I'm just guessing here from what I read... but I get a cpanel from when I buy hosting right?

Did you click the $9.99 package on there home page? The .com is free with the $9.99 package, if you did just buy the domain then yep you're going to need hosting aswell And yep you get a cpanel when you buy the hosting, you should receive a email with all your login creds

I opened a ticket with them to either cancel the one I just bought, or just change it over to the hosting package since its been active for about 15 minutes lol. Hopefully its a go!

I'm using ad rotator script, which i iframe in tumblr. About 4-10 offers that rotate each 10 seconds. Depends on tumblr niche.
I get some nice click ratio.

Got my problem all straightened out with the site, let my first month begin once i get this wordpress stuff all figured out...

EDIT: Got it figured out, just need to let the files transfer over and ill be almost there

EDIT: Talking to the people at host-stage to get my cpanel set up. Their website is terrible but the customer support has been good so far. Even though i've wasted 2 days of my hosting time with the site down.

Thanks for creating this thread. I am taking a pretty similar route as you right now. But right now I am just trying to get my domain name onto my tumblr. But I keep getting an error saying I only have simple zone edit and need advanced zone edit. I might end up just figuring out wordpress like you are doing and going that way with it. Tumblr is banning across the board all accounts associated with affiliate advertising and ad placement. It is against the new terms of service you agreed to upon signing up.

There are many blogs that use JuicyAd if you look at the list of publishers on the website. The key is to not use popunders or mobile ads. Otherwise, juicyads its pretty similar to Adsense. Also, everyone seems worried about the ban on some tumblr blogs a few months ago...yet no one seems to really know or say why these blogs were banned...

did they mark the blog NSFW?
how many adult blogs did they have per account?
if they had multiple blog, was their main blog NSFW? (mine isn't, my main tumblr blog is about fashion)
what kind of ads were they using?
were they spam/junk blogs or copycat blogs?
were they using bots and posting 10+ posts per day?

This is valid information needed to know why a blog was taken down. I've assisted with wordpress support and tumblr isn't different, they look at a variety of factors before taking down a blog...its not clear across the board rules.

IMO, you need at least 1000 followers to put ads, if less - they will likely run away from your blog, after spotting ads.
