I haven't tried Affiliate programs, but presently looking to develop it more for getting more than 500 visitors per day. The blog is for UK travel and the traffic is from same country too. Most of the articles are about top 10 and beaches. Let me know how to monetize and further developments. You should try affiliate programs who deal with hotel booking in UK, air tickets coupons, Amazon also works well. What you need is to insert your special links into your articles.

Maybe you would try putting popup ads on your blog? They pay 2$\1k visitors but they shave a lot of traffic
I would diversify as you know u have a readership, try various niches U.K. traffic is good converting on many offers
