Hi!
As I can see, popups become less and less common for PPC networks.
They are replaced by popunders now.
I have a very profitable experience with popups and they convert great on mobile.
However, I'm not sure about popunders.
Did anyone here try to promote products using popunder mobile ads?
Thinking logically, popunder ads must perform much worse.
Am I right? Do I have to consider them as an option for mobile promotion?

Yeah, popunders usually convert worse than popups, especially on mobile. Users don’t see them right away, so the intent is weaker. But they’re still used a lot because most browsers and ad networks block popups now.

If your offer did well with popups, you could test popunders with super short, aggressive landers or auto-play VSLs to hook attention fast. Keep the load time tight and make sure it works well on weak connections.

It’s not ideal, but if that’s what the traffic networks are pushing, might be worth testing small before ruling it out. What kind of offers are you running? Some niches handle popunder better than others.

Popunders are way safer on mobile since popups get blocked more often. Conversions can be lower but volume and scale make up for it. If your popups still work, no need to switch, but test popunders quietly—you might find hidden wins.

The performance of popunders depends on the niche, geo, and offer type. Generally, popunders have a lower CTR compared to popups, but if the targeting is right, the conversions can be decent.

Popunders usually convert worse on mobile than popups, but testing them can still uncover hidden opportunities.

Popunders can work, but popups still generally convert better on mobile.

From what I’ve seen, popunder performance really depends on the niche, GEO, and the type of offer. CTR is usually lower than with popups, but if the traffic quality is solid and the targeting matches the offer, conversions can still be good. It’s worth testing both formats to see which performs better for your specific funnel.

Popunders can work, but popups still tend to convert better on mobile.

Hey Mate, I belive on mobile, popunders usually convert worse than popups because many users never notice the hidden tab, but they can still work if the traffic is very cheap.

depends what you're optimizing for tbh

if it's pure volume that's one thing, if it's keeping users around then i'd probably go with popunders
