When I first started exploring the world of cloaking, my results were very inconsistent. Some days my ads were running fine, but most of the time my setups didn’t last more than 24 hours. Honestly, it was very frustrating. At first, I thought cloaking just doesn't work anymore or maybe the ad platforms are too smart. But after testing many things, I realized the problem was in my setup and some basic mistakes I was making.
I want to share these mistakes so others can avoid them:
1. Using very basic filtering
I used to think that any simple script can block unwanted traffic. But basic filtering is not enough today. If the cloaker's database is old, the bots will easily see your money page and ban you instantly.
2. I treated all traffic the same
I was sending all my traffic into one single flow. I didn't separate mobile users from desktop, or different regions properly. I realized that keeping traffic organized helps in monitoring what is actually happening.
3. Scaling too fast (My biggest mistake)
Whenever a campaign worked for 2 days, I got excited and increased the budget 5x or 10x. This is a huge red flag for ad networks. Now I know that we have to scale slowly to keep the account "warm."
4. Ignoring hosting and page speed
I didn't focus on server performance. If the cloaker takes too long to redirect, it creates a footprint. If the Safe Page is slow, the manual reviewer will get suspicious. Fast hosting is a must.
5. Making things too complicated
I was adding too many filters and over-thinking the setup. Sometimes keeping the Safe Page very simple and the technical setup clean works best.
After I fixed these points, my campaigns started lasting much longer. Now that I have fixed these mistakes, my setup is working very well and everything is much more stable than before.
