Today I have registered a new domain, nothing easy to remember. Pretty "strange" to be typed and found.

I set it up with my certificate (letsencrypt) bought it with namesilo (with WHOIS privacy) and set up a simple wordpress site with nothing in particular. Not GSC yet or analytics.

In 3 hours approximately I received the first visit: A guy with a website building proposal through the WordPress comment section.

This has definitely blown my mind. It's not an expired domain or anything like that: 0 incoming links and has 13 characters, which is at worst a fair difficult "character combination".

How in the world this guy could detect the new site?
Maybe namesilo publish the newly created domains?
Or Let's Encrypt the newly created certificates attached to a domain?

Yep I get at least one proposal like that per week, all domains are registered at namecheap and have WHOIS protection. Few of them of them have Cloudflare.

People use softwares to detect newly created domains, thus, you got it.

There are so many site selling newly registered domains list for download like https://newly-registered-domains.whoisxmlapi.com/

I've been receiving this from many registrars over the time.

But the most stunning thing is the time span: just 2 or 3 hours, which is, impressive. It's even impressive how those pages could be getting those new domains. There should be like a black market or something, between the registrars, or the whois privacy services.

Now I've noticed that they guy/gal registered the FB group slug :p
I can see it has been registered 3 hours ago.
What a joke.

I used to get these everytime in the past I registered with Go Daddy, but touch wood Namesilo, Namecheap and Porkbun never had this.
I have been getting these from registering on Namecheap for a couple of months now, not fun.

What is equally impressive is that you hosted and installed Wordpress in a brand new domain in just over an hour after registering the new domain.

lol thats too easy, no mystery here. Its just a script which checks the newest bought doman names and checks the sites, if its wordpress then it spam comment or whatever.

The real thing is "where are those new bought domain list"

Why? In Namesilo, DNS tend to propagate in about 1 hour sometimes even less
I used to enjoy this from GoDaddy but after migrating to Namesilo I see they have the same capability which is pretty awesome.

I would suggest that you accept that guys proposal of creating a website for you and ask him directly how did you find my domain :)

Happens all the time. They are constantly scraping who is, or some other public place where the contact information is available.

Would be interesting to see level of work these people. (Probably not that well, and could be a scam)

This is the best idea so far :D
In fact, maybe I'm too paranoid, but I feel that this guy had some relationship with the domain I registered. He registered FB group and other domain straight away (that hardly relates). Is like if he was waiting for someone to register it for some reason. I will check this further because is kind of a mystery for me.

I think you did not get the trick. The whois is private. They cannot scrap that.
