Migrating Main Landing Page

Hello everyone, hope you can help me with an issue I'll be facing soon. Currently I am selling a product on a landing page, where the landing page is the actual root of the domain. So if my domain is "mydomain.com", the landing page is just located at "www.mydomain.com". However I want to make this landing page a "sub-landing page" of another main index page. So in the end the product will be located on "www.mydomain.com/my-product", and not on the website root any more.

The idea is that as I'm adding more products, I need more landing pages, and the website root should be the main directory page. How do I go about changing the URL of my landing page without affecting my search ranking?

I don't think a 301 redirect will work here because I want to put new content on the site root, where the landing page previously was.

301 redirect should cope to preserve SEO value and update internal links. Submit a new sitemap in Google Search Console. Retain the original content and optimize the new root page with relevant keywords.

to change your landing page URL without affecting your website rank you can try a Root Directory page by updating your internal links and use canonical tags and submitting the sitemap. I have tried this for one of my client in Restaurant Niche and it worked.
 
That's not a really good idea for SEO, it should be planned from the beginning and placed within a subpage, especially if you've built links,
The best you can do is #1 change the page url and make it a subpage, #2 make a new homepage with sections linking to different products,

Another possible solution is to 301 the main domain page "domain.com" to the new subpage product url "domain.com/product-1",
And make a new homepage with a different slug, something like "domain.com/home" or "domain.com/products",
That will be better in terms of SEO, you'll preserve the current keywords, but won't be as great for direct traffic, UX, technical stuff, etc...
 
Ok so it seems like I should have just done it right from the start which ismost definitely true. May just have to bite the bullet, update internal links, and whatever backlinks I can.

I did consider this option as well. It would work to preserve everything. This could work. Every pagr would basically need a slug but I dont think that would necessarily be a bad thing

You can move your landing page to a new URL and use a canonical tag on both the old and new pages to help search engines understand the change without losing your ranking.
