hello, this is my first post here on bhw :) Thank you for this awesome thread.
I just found some good buyer keywords but most of them have less than 5k searches... should I go for them alltough?

I'm working with another guide here and it says I need 18-20 more keywords related to my niche. But what if I can't find that much kw's (with such high search volume)? Would you recommend to focus one kw instead and do the seo only with the root keyword?

Among the most important lessons from this thread is to pick words that have less SEO competition, even using microniches in order to rank easily. Each major keyword you select needs to be easily rankable, because using several together can overcome the low <5k search volume zone. If you rank 1-3 on average for 18 keywords with an average of 3k search volume each, that is about the same as ranking 1-3 for a keyword with 54k search volume. Through assembly of such valuable keywords, you can reach the same total visitor population while not having to struggle to rank broader niche keywords.

So, I think about creating a website about a certain product which I'm not going to sell, but offer tutorials and instructions. While researching the keywords I found out that most keywords have just a few clicks(like 500), but there are plenty of them with literally no competetion.

So, how would I combine those keywords in order to get traffic?

Would it be a good Idea to just put up a wordpress like website and use different keywords for different articles(tutorials)?

Writing 1-2 articles for each micro-niche keyword would certainly add to getting the pages ranked, and you can reinforce the impact by throwing in one of the other keywords 1-2 times in each article. Getting a local monthly search volume of 1000 or more per keyword is best, but dipping below that line here or there isn't the end of the world, so go for it.

not many people know how do this stuff right. this is a really good guide :) I know people who write content marketing strategies, but still fail to do a correct Keyword Research. pretty cool

Thanks! I am pretty new in KW research myself, but I usually target long tail KW by using Googles KW tool and that toolbar you can install as an add-on to Firefox. I put in my main keyword in the keyword tool, and try to find some good secondary keywords there. After, I take these, and put them into the keyword tool again, to find good long-tail keywords.

After, I use my intuition (I know this niche very well), and select some good(I tend to target the ones with "how to", "where" etc. these are good buyer keywords). Then I manually check competition, instead of a paid software (I am still new in the KW game, until recently I have used just referral and social traffic)--since I want to get a feel for it, before I stat to tinvest in software.

I use the same conditions as above, more or less, regarding search volume; inurl; intitle etc. I also like to visit the sites, to see if they are any good (content wise).
 
Excellent for newbies to understand how to dig out the winning KW..
