I think they do it to incentivize marketers/advertisers so they can spend money with Google adwords etc.

I checked to see the searches that G Keyword tool and market samurai gives and in the beginning I could see that the searches in MS are almost 3 times less than in GKWT, BUT then I realized that by default MS shows SEOT results, which actually is "Maximum potential clicks a #1 site could get" and is not the actual searches. You can activate the column "Total searches" and then the numbers in MS and GKWT are absolutely the same!!!

Be aware of this little detail!

P.S. According to MS formulas if you use GKWT and want to know how much would be "Maximum potential clicks a #1 site could get" you should divide the Broad/Exact/Monthly searches by 2.38

Example: GKWT exact/monthly searches for a keyword is 14400... 14400/2.38=6050 clicks maximum your site would get if it reach G #1

But Google still wont give you those sorts of figures will they?

i.e 10K exact searches and you rank number 1, you wont really get 70% or 7K traffic from that keyword will you?

After reading this thread, my whole mind frame change with keyword searching, all other tuts weren't as detailed as this one was, and this really really helped me a lot esp. picking a niche. (Its all based on keyword, and what the user/buyer will search for and how many competitors have 100% good seo vs yours. ok i got that)

Now I did a quick run test against my niche based on this tut. These are my results. Remember this is just a simple test, for me to know what to look for in the future.

Analyzing...
Keyword: (blah blah blah) - 3 word phrase

[Exact] CPC = $7.22 - Global/Local Month Search = 91
"Phrase" CPC = $6.69 - Global/Local Month Search = 110


In Title:
1,540 results
22 spots total (3 pages)
-page 3 obviously had 2 spots since each page has 10 spots (10*2+2)

In URL:
78 results
10 spots total (2 pages)
-page 2 has only 2 spots

*InTitle + InURL = 7 results & only 1 page! = 3 spots available!*

Fact #1
Keyword: Blah Blah Blah
only .com is taken
-The rest are available!

Fact #2

-doesn't show up at all! when doing (inurl + intitle)

So what does this mean at any circumstances ? Should I go ahhead and create a Micro Niche Blog and see if i could reach #1 spot? Just for a small test (looks easy enough based on my results).

Or should I take these same methods & results and search for another keyword that has way more search results.. 1k+

Btw, you're saying that Google doesn't return accurate search results, so based on "my test", if I were to try and accomplish to hit #1 spot for this keyword, 110+91 = 201 hits. How many hits would I get per day since google shaves?

Bro.... Im glad you have understood the fundamentals of my guide and the importance of keyword research. Your ahead of 80% of IM'er out there. Now its just trail and error until you find a working business model for you.

One tip I can give you for the above keyword..... the exact searches is not worth it.

Especially if your going to buy domain and hosting.

I would not waste my time on anything less than 10K worth of traffic (that means at least 10K of traffic for all my keywords; regardless if I have 1 keyword that get 10K searches or 20 keywords that get 500 exact searches. But the fewer keywords the less work for you.).

If you want to try out that keyword then go ahead, but use a squidoo, hubpage or blogger page to rank it. Also make sure you do the on page seo.

I have yet to find a keyword with 10k + searches as well as meeting the rest of your criteria. All the ones I find that meet the "specs" are like between 0- 2500 searches per month.

Dont wait for the perfect keywords.... there are many keywords in the 1K region with easy competition.

Also dont be afraid to try out tougher competitive keywords that has 500K competition for no other reason than to see how long and tough it is to rank those keywords. And once your know how hard a 500K competition keyword is, you will start seeing many other keywords that are maybe 300K or less that have good potential.

If your having problem finding keywords that are good then its because your not taking enough action. Keywords I would say are hard keywords for a new, is normal keywords for someone that is taking lots of action and know their stuff.

So take lots of action, find out what is tough and what is not, then you will start finding 100 hundreds of keywords.

thanks for the compliment..lol Im glad you acknowldge my step by step analytics, I try to keep things organize and understandable like your method cause some tuts out there lack at this..

Yea Im thinking about testing that keyword out, idk i might give another keyword a go, or just combine another given keyword that relates to the other one and add up the search results that way and rip up a quick blog right quick. I'll post results if i do.

oh and since their is 1 domain registered with that keyword, i don't have to buy a domain or hosting, there are free ones available like co.cc and just redirect your blog to that domain.

Also another tip for others trying to find a good keyword, try to use a keyword or phrase that doesn't sound normal to you, or never heard of sometimes you will get lucky, you never know what most people put to "search" for something..

Straight to the topic... I don't know where you've got this number 70% for #1, but it seams very unrealistic... according to the above stats from MS if we have 10K exact and divide it to 2.38 = 4200 visits max...

On average, according to Chitika (http://chitika.com/research/2010/the-value-of-google-result-positioning/), the #1 spot gets approximately 34% of the search traffic for any given search term. Which means MS counts are more optimistic.

Of course all these numbers are on average... you can get far better or worse results.

Hi Todor, no problem. This is a place of sharing bro, not about who is the teacher or student .

But anyways, I got the figure from mates and people that I know that are in the IM game and what they have experienced.

Lets just say you can expect 40%-70% .... ( I have also heard of stories where people get more than the traffic stated but thats a whole different story).

i just whipped up like 7 other keywords to go in my title as my 2nd keyword phrase so i can get some more traffic juice, using this awesome tut. all have at least 2k-6.6k [exact] searches. with a max of 27-60 pages ! (haha i beat your 74th page) @OP.. j/k

Funniest thing i learned with this, 1 of my keywords has the highest searched out of all of them but has a max of 53 pages..
And the least searched keyword has max of 50 pages.. lol

This time i only used the intitle since these keywords won't be in my domain but in my title and etc.. (I've made the domain already "main keyword")

my main keyword doesn't have a lot of searches but with these other keywords being in the title and everything else, hopefully that traffic might boost it up.
