[Method] STEP by STEP Keyword Research for Newbies

Im just a bit confused right now. I tried applying all ive learnt above, but something is disturbing me.
Well, I'm searching for keywords related to a health hot topic,but when I search using the [Exact] option, I'm getting mostly one word keywords, and most of them have like 9000 searches. Worse, when I look for "keyword" in google, i see more thatn 200-500K results.

Where am I going wrong? I mean should i go for [Exact] or [Broad], because that's where I am confused. When I choose broad, I get a different variations which I assume are what people are searching. Is it? Or am i wrong here?

The results I am getting when I look for exact searches are mostly around 5000 searches monthly. So does that mean, by working really hard, writing articles, optimizing them, and being able to finally be number one for one keyword, I might at most get 5000 visitors? Or can i use the keywords i get when i do a [Broad] search.
I am really confused! help...I need to get started with SEO..

I can not understand why your only getting 1 keyword words. Never heard of that before.

Any ways when you find a hot keyword that sounds good to you but the competition is tough or the keyword is just 1 word then try to copy that keyword in to the search field and tick the "Only show ideas closely related to my search terms" and then press search again ;).

And you can do the same process again and again until you have some very targeted micro niche keywords. :44:


P.s Always use exact traffic.

One thing about google keyword tool. if your targeting say just the UK, then its the local monthly searches and not the global is that correct?
If so then what would you say was a good search number to look for as obviously local searches will be a lot lower.

Anything lower than 1500 exact, I won't go but there are exceptions. If the keyword is very very low in competition with good CPC and if I can rank #1, I would go for 500 also.

Thanks for the guide. I actually didn't know those extra feature with the google search beside the double quote I've always been though.

I guess this is a good thing go search with Google Adsense right?

Thanks for the tips man, I purchase SB and MS last week. Thinking about getting another software but haven't done enough research yet.
 
our goal is keywords containing three or more words correct? Using 'longtail' keywords?

is this because it's much harder to rank for 2 or (especially) 1 word keywords?

I have to say though, thank you for posting this thread. This is the biggest hurdle anyone will have to cross

Hi,

well there are 2 main reasons for going after longtailed keywords (2-3 words or more).

A) Just like you said, it is easier to rank those type of keywords.

B) If you can rank a keyword that is 3-4 words long you will also be working and semi ranking for the shorter version of that keyword!


Example: You work on ranking "Best car to buy", when you work on that keyword you are also automatically/in-directly working on "Best car" and once your ranking for the long tailed keyword it will be MUCH easier to rank for the shorter/tougher version of the keyword.

I was doing everything except the traffic travis part. I have the full version of TT guess I need to dust it off. pictures help alot
