[METHOD] How to get additional traffic using Disqus for free

Hey, I want to share with you a method I started to use few months ago, and I'm still using it.

It allows you to create backlinks on those websites, which use disqus commenting module. Although these links doesn't affect SERP directly (since they are no-follow) – but they could drive plenty traffic to your website from those sites you post your link to.

Here is your google query - it allows to find all web pages with your keyword AND disqus module installed.


(you can use intitle: or intext: instead of inurl: - in case if you are interested in pages where your keyword is not only in url). Refer to "google advanced search queries" if you want to modify it somehow.

You can search for pages like "10 best services for" "list of apps for" or whatever you can imagine - the main thing is that readers of those pages should be interested in your product/site

SO - this query mentioned above will show you websites with your keyword in url/title and with disqus module installed.

Then, open these pages and post RELEVANT comment with a link to your site (e.g. thank you for that list, but why you didn't mention mysite.com? they have features like X,Y,Z). Use image to make your comment more prominent.

Some sites configured disqus to send new comments to approval - but in my experience more than 60% of websites use default config (which allows you to post a comment with a link without their approval)

If there is a lot of comments already - you need to REPLY the 1st comment (which has the most amount of upvotes).


You have to use several e-mails/accounts and change them because disqus can mark some of your comments as a spam

In addition: The top two modules sites and blogs use for comments are Disqus, and Facebook. I just checked the Google query for the latter---this works for the Facebook module too!

Nice tip, but in my experience I've found that most sites require approval. Maybe it varies depending on the niche.

Quite sure 20 comments per month would be ok in their eyes?

As I said, in my experience, atleast every second website do not has manual approval (because by default it's not set)

Why not just google "keyword" + "powered by Disqus" or "keyword" + "Disqus' Privacy Policy"?

You're a rockstar OP. I just posted 5 comments and 3 were posted without any moderation. 2 were in moderation which I edited back to valuable comments without any link which will I guess build some trust in the Disqus account. Nonetheless, the moderated comments will mostly never get approved with such links and so, I decided to edit them back. It might be helpful for some of you.

Okay. Here is a twist to make the best out of it:

When you find a site with lots of articles in your niche which does not have any moderation, now it's time to find the top and most relevant pages where most of the traffic flows into the blog. You can do that using Ahrefs top pages option. I'm doing the same and felt like sharing. if the comments stick, I think they will send lots of traffic. Might be helpful for someone No hatred towards me please haha, I'm no guru, OP definitely is
