Hello BHW,
Everyone has competitors in his/her business, but if we can find out information about how they are getting traffic, leads, and sales, we can do great with your business.

step:1

Target a competitor-

Let's say that you already have an online business or you are planning to start an online business.
Niche - Weight Loss

Now, you need to find a marketplace where all these competitors are already listed.
For easy understanding, we will use Clickbank as an example [clickbank have even the weirdest products listed, and it's actually very rare to not find a competitor for your business there ]

** If you are unable to find your competitor here, then do a simple google search "Your niche marketplace".

MABJMFv

Now, let's say we take the "Flat Belly Fix" as our target.

step:2-

Open similarweb.com and enter the website address of your competition, hit enter.

stats for the website

YZoOlVB

RthSlqg

Now, most of us will ignore the search, mail, social and referrals traffic [with 0.85%, 3.34%, 6.64% and 8% traffic share respectively]

But, pure gold is hidden there.

0.85% of 1.4 M = 11,900
3.34% of 1.4 M = 46,760
6.64% of 1.4 M = 92,960
8.00% of 1.4 M = 112,000
Total = 204,960

step:3 -

Evaluate the traffic source using data from similarweb.

What can you do?
As you can see the exact keywords sending traffic to your competitors, now you can do the SEO stuff to outrank the articles already ranking on the 1st page of Google.

For the paid keywords, use Google AdWords or Bing ads [and test if it works for you or not]

** for email marketing - use bloggers in your niche, contact them and offer them an affiliate deal.
You can also use solo ads, and test if it works for you or not.

#2 Social Media Marketing -

CB6a7LU

As you can see in the image above, most of the social traffic is coming from Pinterest & youtube.

What can you do?
Start creating valuable content on Pinterest and Youtube.

Strategy:-
Create a great piece of in-depth content related to your niche/product. Market that content on both platforms, try to get some shoutouts and sponsored promotion.
After the promotion was over, run retargeting ads [target the people who visited that page or watched that video].

#3 Referral Traffic-

WNtZ19m

You have a complete list of websites promoting this product.

What can you do?
Give them a better deal, if the current product is giving them $35/sale the, you offer them $40/sale.

Strategy:-
Instead of asking them to recommend your product to their website visitors, buy and advertising space on their website [ price depends on many factors, start with $250/month ]

advantage of buying that ad space-
1. You will get a lot of traffic without paying the initial 40-50% affiliate share.
2. The content creator doesn't need to change the whole content [to resonate it with your product]. This will decrease the friction in the transaction.
3. Affiliate blogs always want to diversify their income source.

DISCLAIMER:- Start with only one traffic source, test it, then proceed.

Edit:- This tutorial may be very basic but, that is how you should start. If you think something is missing, then just comment that below so that others can benefit from that.

Thanks,
Keep Grinding.

Why don`t choose Ahrefs and bang bang, 5 seconds search and you`re done?

Ahrefs is mainly for SEO related stuff.
But on Similarweb you can get all types of info.
And after that if you want to go all in SEO, you can use Ahrefs.
Hope that make sense.
