[Method] Can this dump, obviously bad 500-piece campaign generate back a single $?

    Sup fellows.

I did it. Did what? Got the probably worst, most dump and spontaneous direct mail campaign started
this board ever had to face. Seriously, if this even generates a single $, the most air-minded 5 year
old with down-syndrom could make this work.

    So...

Here is what it's all about:
Lurking BHW while the whole city was sleeping a feeling came up inside of me. A feeling that said: Get
your lazy a** off that chair and rape some mailboxes. NOW!

So I signed up for an instant-credit pay-per-lead program... searched the most reduced coffee-maker
amazon had to offer... and created, what's a mailing piece that without any doubt would make every
direct-mail person in this country disinherit me, if I were their son.

It's a tearsheet piece. Printed on both sides. Should look like it was teared out a newspaper. It doesn't.

That's how it looks like. Six ads on each side:
    2013-08-17 07.42.29.jpg

The copy? Stinks. Did it in 5 Minutes. I'm lying. It was 3. Without any research. Even without writing
20+ headlines, like I usually do.

    Really... it sucks.

There are typos. The printer made it look even more crappy. In other words: The most untalented
15 year old lurker could get done something better within a few hours. Period.

    Here's how I produced the "teared out"-effect:

Got a big knife and began to saw:
    Dfl01Fk.jpg

2nd: Took a wax crayon and marked some line that might be benefitial for my target-group. As I
told you before... I didn't do any research on my target-group. So I just marked a random line,
saying something like: "You can choose the payback rates yourself." Here you go:
    K2AEHP6.jpg

Next step: Set up a tiny little website. Those CPA guys usually don't allow leading poeple from print
directly to their site. So this is what I did within 10 minuten in PS:
    SU2quej.jpg

    It's free-host. Didn't even bought a domain. Regged a free sub-domain. Totally low-budget.

Time spent: About 6 hrs. (website, mailingpiece, printing, sawing etc.)
Plus, another 2 1/2 hours to get them out.

What can I say... a just-for-fun project. Had the time. Had the motivation. No hurt feelings if it fails.

Within the next 2 hours the city will wake up. And 500 happy campers will be confronted with a pitch
every salesman would be ashamed of. Oh boy...

So what do you think... will I get back my $6 I've invested?

PS: Every lead pays $17 bucks.
    PPS: Coffeemachines pay $4,70 each.
PPPS: Yes, I am from Germany.
PPPPS: Time for breakfast. Eat heatlhy!

This thread made me laugh - in a good way! ;)
I appreciate that you seem to have a good sense of humor.

Any chance you could translate that web page you created? Looks like German to me but I'm no expert!

And lastly good job! Keep us updated!

I did a similar campaign a few months ago but something more professional and with a larger investment.
It was also in Germany and ROI was not so bad.

As soon as I have more time I will share all details(method) and pictures here.

Ich wünsche dir viel Glück ;)

I expect to see a WSO in a weeks time: 'How I raped my neighbor's mailboxes!'. - only 3 copies left!

Thanks guys! In about 8 hours most of them should have checked their mailbox.

There are 100 things that I could have done better. That's why I'm not a 100% sure. Not sure
if it will pull in some $$$. But thank you. Results will show :)

My joy is to see yours :D

It says something along the lines of: "Get a credit dispite Schufa". Schufa is an institute in Germany. It
keep record if you pay your bills on time. And keeps track of your overall credibility in terms of handling
money, contracts and credits. People whose Schufa suck are very passionate about hearing they still
    can get a credit.

The link says something like "request it now". The 1st PS says "your request is not binding". The 2nd
"(It's free!)". So again, nothing special. Just to get my cookie in.

I'd love to see that happen, haha. We'll see, maybe the money gods are with me.

Yes Sir. Thought of dropping them on cars, too. Maybe if this test pulls some results. Just imagine a
parking house with 7.000 cars. In this case I would do something like "[city] sex club searching new
members". And copy a landingpage like those 'sex in your city'-guys have. You answer 3 questions,
get some brainwashing and then... they lead you to their pay-per-lead partnersite.

This idea came to me having half of the credit/coffee-mailings delivered. Maybe it's worth a test...

Would love to hear more about it. Which offers did you promote? How does the 'not-so-bad'-ROI
    look in numbers? :)

    Danke :D

While you might think this is foolish, I guarantee you will learn something and get other ideas. You did what 99% of the people will never do, and that is dive right in. Hope it works out for you and you get some ideas to keep growing.

You're right. Learned many valueable lessons already.

Thank you for encouraging me. Will start another test tomorrow. Better copy, better offers. Focused on
leadgeneration for dating products. (Flyer -> Optin -> Salespitch -> Follow-Up.) Plus one win a car CPA.
(Flyer -> CPA.) Will do about 4.000 pieces in a parkinghouse. 1.000 x 3 offer flyers. 3x 1000 single offer
flyers. Maybe I'll replace Dating/Dating/Win with Diet/Dating/Win. Just to test what gets results.

Doing some research now on what's the biggest pain in the a** for the bigget amount of people. Any
    recommendations?

    Thank you!

No big hope that it will pay of in money. (In experience it already did.) But... some mailorder guys say it
takes about 3 days to get rolling. And it keeps rolling for about 14 days. What's your experience?
