Would it be possible to elaborate which categories of items you had the most success? ie Electronics/ clothing etc?

Electronics, childrens items, hardware, outdoor, kitchen, clothing, healthcare, etc. I could sell from any category, they all do well. If you aren't getting sales in a specific category, you're either not following instructions on the original post or you haven't listed enough items. When targeting a specific category, you should be listing HUNDREDS of items. Not 5 or 10. HUNDREDS. From that group you will get some regular sellers and move on.

Do you provide the tracking information in ebay or just mark as shipped when amazon ship the item?
What I wonder is that do I have to fill out the tracking information?

Hope I'm not stepping in your circle here Lewy2k.

Crajkl, Amazon will give you tracking info as soon as the item leaves Amazon. Put that tracking info into Ebay within your promised handling time. This is one of the metrics ebay uses to award you a power seller status later on. Also, you get your money from PayPal sooner.

So, mark as "shipped" as soon as you order from Amazon and then go back in and enter tracking info as soon as you can.

BTW. Thank you Lewy. My daughters are having fun with this selling all kinds of things and earning good spending cash for themselves. I wish I was doing this at 13-15 like they are!! I have 150 items listed right now as well and paying rent plus!

Note to all: There are items that can be marked up $50-100 and make a nicer than $7 profit! Keep looking and testing!!

I think the profit must be over $15 per item. Be careful with Paypal taxes and shipping!

Would you guys say if a item has more than 5 people listing it, you shouldnt bother?

I list no matter how many people have it listed. You can make a better and more detailed listing than them. Also, later on you should have more positive feedbacks then other competition that will help you as well. I never take into account how many people are selling. Although, I tend to stay away from mainstream items due to them being out of stock often on Amazon.

I'm slightly confused now. You state something contrary to that on the first page. Can you clarify? You mention aiming for items that 5 or less people are selling.

I have about 160 listings that I put up within the past 2-3 days. So far 2 sales.

That was just a suggestion for those who are just getting started and learning how to sell on eBay. Once you have learned how to make the highest quality listings, you can sell no matter how much competition there is.

First off, excellent thread, I just started yesterday and I am still waiting for my first sale :D

Second, do you have to pay insertion fees because after my first 20 listings, they are starting to charge me $0.30 per listing

Look into starting an eBay store subscription. You pay monthly but it gives you more free listings and less amount of $$ per listing after that. There are three levels. I have level 1 that is $19.95 per month.

Can't wait to try your method out..though I can't help but feel there must be a better supplier than amazon.

If you can find me a supplier with more quantity than Amazon, free two day shipping on all items like Amazon, AMAZING customer service like Amazon AND great prices like Amazon, I'd love to hear who that is. There is a reason Amazon is used.

Very well explained method. Hats off to you for contributing to the community! I always admire people of this kind.

A question regarding the method. I am located outside the US, in Europe. I would like to know whether the 'tax' thing will also hit me even if I sell to US (entering US address on Amazon), although buying from European location (IP).

Any insight on that matter?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Yes, you will have to pay the tax. It is based on the shipping address of the item.

How important is feedback? I've sold only 3 items last month with a feedback of 19. If I can raise my feedback from buying cheap stuff on ebay, would that help me sell more items?

Hello everyone ! This is a great spoonfeeding post :) but I have a question for those who live outside the USA and maybe even ppl who live there can answer me, is it necessary to subscribe amazon and eBay with an USA address? In that case, is there any problem if I use fake address? What could I do with phone verification? I hope somebody can help me :)
