Meta Description Are Going Insane

Is it me or are meta descriptions listing around 300 characters in search? I wonder what the big G is up to.

Thoughts? example below. Not my sight. I promise!!!!

when i searched google for "savvy seo courses"

quite a few of the results had about the same number of words, while some only 2 lines.
Maybe this is a new thing from google where they now change the excerpts
to different lengths, just to compare ctr.

This happens because that keyword is showed as instant result (featured snippet) for another query.

Yep, they are always testing, I don't see any other explanations does make sense.

I noticed this in my niche a few weeks ago. Other sites were using longer meta descriptions (200+ words), seeing this make me think it's time to change my a few of my pages descriptions. :/
