Hello

Im selling some stuff and my goal is "sales conversion" but there is no conversion history and data in my Google Ads cause my account is still new.
I created a campaign and i choosed "maximize clicks" also i set manual CPC for that and CPC is cheap for me so im happy with that

But my main goal is conversion, if i change my bidding strategy to "Maximize Conversion" can my ads have conversion? or not?

Usually people are saying "Use maximize clicks until getting 20-30 conversion and after that switch that to Maximize Conversion"

Is this strategy still working in end of 2025? or just old advice?

Do one thing , First setup the micro-conversions from google tag manager , means guide google ads how conversion will happedn , or what kind of user activity will convert , by putting your dwell time and form fillup lead with it , do it by yourself , then use the maximize conversion for 4 days afterward switch to t-CPA, it will run very well.
It is very common that for starting new campaign , No conversion data is there, first teach google for your conversion data , then start with maximize conversion.
I dont recommednd you to start with Clicks.

If your goal is sales or leads go with Conversions Maximize Clicks only works well for testing traffic or new ads

From my experience this strategy is still working and thats not just old advice as I still use it and get fairly decent results.

Depends on how you present your offer.

For Ecom definately start max clicks, in my experience if you have a good offer google will be designed to get you lower conversions.

I tagged correctly. Every tag working right already. My point is "Max CPC or Max Conversion" better for new ads

From my experience, maximizing the number of conversions works better

So i should start with "Maximize Conversion" then?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with starting with Maximize Clicks
Because there's no conversion data initially, Maximize Conversions isn't particularly meaningful
As you continue with your Maximize Clicks campaign, once you've collected conversion data, you'll be prompted to switch to Maximize Conversions.

Hey Avoya,

Yes, your ads can get conversions, but performance will likely be unstable or weak until you have some initial data.

I’d stick with maximize clicks until you have some real conversion data because switching too early to maximize conversions usually leaves Google guessing and performing worse.

Nope bro , You're in past , Google works on behavior , if you select click then it will send your ads to those who activity is only to click, if you select it on conversion then it will show your ads to those who have past or recent behavior to fill the form or to do something else like call , contact.

I have good experience of SA360, telling with experience

I´d stick to your current strategy because that advice is definitely still valid. If you switch to Maximize Conversions with zero history Google has no data to work with and will likely just skyrocket your CPC while guessing who your buyers are. Keep feeding it cheap clicks until you actually hit that 20 to 30 sale mark so the AI has a pattern to follow before you let it take over your bidding.

it s always like that when starting new google ads setup, keep maximize conversions, your ad acc just needs more time to warm up and optimize. lower the budget so u can test more with less spend while waiting for google to learn properly.

Clicks over conversions in my opinion, the acquisition cost is generally lower and there isn't too much of a difference.

My partners and I ALWAYS go for the sales.
We've been creating content since the 90s and we started with traditional distribution in offline stores. (Pre-Internet)
The Internet suffers from herd mentalities and everyone screams get "Traffic" and "Go For Clicks" etc.. etc...

In reality, you need to always be going for the sale.
We sell porn and our conversion ratios are 1 sale per hundred hits on any of our sites.
But we use a lot of legacy advertising like print magazines. So, even when one of our sites has had only 2k visits in a day, it's still made 20 sales.

If your account is brand new with no conversions the algo doesn’t have much to learn from so performance can be poor. Starting with “Maximize Clicks” (or manual CPC) to gather some initial conversions is a smart move.
