I used to run maximise clicks.

Sales plummet and I started to try maximise conversion.

Values below are for one day, comparing the same day of the week.

Background: Ecommece website selling home appliances. 10 years old.

Maximise clicks
Clicks 29
Impression 330
CTR 8.79%
Total cost $7.41

Maximise conversion
Clicks 5
Impression 9
CTR 55%
Total cost $0.19

Both days saw no improvement in sales.
Maximise conversion was only tried since 3 days ago. I only managed to set up the conversion tag today. Not sure if getting it tagged would pull up anything. It says it would +12 percent in optimization. It is a PITA to get that set up and I still not sure if it's correct. So should I let it wait and try out longer?

My other big concern is my SERP for my organic traffic tanked. Leading to lower organic traffic too. Is it influenced by the tanking of lower impression from my drop of Google ads or due to recent Google algorithm updates?

What would you do? Revert to max clicks or max conversion?

So few clicks, although the CTR is high, it has no reference value

I can't take 1 to 2 clicks a day.

Went back to maximize clicks
Goal set to "leads"
Also set bid higher for new customers.

Any advice or anything to look out please comment.

You have no data to make a conclusion. Come back when you've 1000 clicks minimum.

PS: Don't touch the GAds campaigns too much. Let the algos do the work.

Actually the PPC had been running for 10 years CPC maximum clicks.
It was only a few days ago i tried max conversion and things don't look great obviously.

It said it needs 5 days for bid learning strategy or whatever. I'm not sure if it can do while i'm using max clicks.

I just revert back to max clicks as I'm also worried that my organic SERP tanks which it really did in the past few days.

If you want to test out things, do it in a different campaign. Never touch a campaign that's working. Most of the time you can't revert the changes. Performance might not go back to the way it was before you touched it.

But my initial setting was on max clicks. My impression is it just spams to anyone.

I think you are totally right but I already touched the campaign.

I've set the campaigns back to maximise clicks and the sales seems to be recovering. During the 5 days of "bid learning" the results weren't good.

I like to try a new strategy with the same maximise clicks but with only a smaller selection of keywords. How should I do it?

Set up a new campaign and run parallel?
Won't that raise competition among myself?

Can I pause the old campaign while I try the new campaign? But when I resume the old campaign, would it go to "bid learning" and I've to endure a week of poor sales again?
