Matt Cutts: The Next Penguin Update Will Be Big

Guns are out. Anyone not shifting into social media at this point are crazy. Its the future anyways, fuck the big G.

I think they are able focused only on backlinks (anchors) schemes... I remember Panda - my sites were penalized for fact, that other people stole my original content.
G engineers are insane idi0ts ...

Sorry (I guess), but someone really should say this: there are an amount of certifiably delusional people in this forum as regards Penguin and what its aim is that can only be described as infuriating to anyone who has genuinely tried to warn people here, while having no ulterior motive in so doing. Further, more often than not, when someone is not delusional (or an ignoramus), they're talking out their ass with petulant, 'feel-good' jibber-jabber like calling Matt Cutts names and staring at the D-Day what is right in front of them -- like Don Quixote in front of a windmill.

If there is anything, that anyone with even a small power of perception, is able to glean from anything at all that Matt Cutts says, it is that he shoots off at the mouth with a sophomoric confidence typical to all engineers: the first thing he says is as close to accurate that he will ever say; later, he 'clarifies'.

The Doomsday algorithm for SEOs will be one or another iteration of this fucking Penguin, guys. Get your house in order; prepare other income streams. Do it yesterday.

Just read his response a few times to dig a little deeper. As always, take what Matt Cutts says with a grain of salt, but notice that multiple times he mentions "adding new signals" in his response. I think this is a huge takeaway into focusing in more diversity with link building and also moving more into a social direction. Not to sound like a broken record, but it sounds like Matt is giving us some hints here as to what this update is going to accomplish. Diversify!

You may be right but i have a site with no social signals on it thats gone from 70 visitors p/d to over 500 p/d bypassing all Panda/Penguin over the past 6 months. It ranks for 271 keywords with 80% of them on the first page of google. Many say that social signals are already part of the past updates but i have none and yet rank very highly for my niche.

lol - Google is going no where. People don't have time to change their homepages from Google to Bing or any SE.

They are getting the information they need (they think) and they are right too most of the times. Even all my family members/friends are using Google and they don't even said me a single time that Google is crap. Its only we, webmasters say this.

SEO will remain alive but just evolve.

But it is very doable decision to start learning PPC since Google is making SEO harder.

Anyhooo, Like Xenix said, Bring it on :)

The only thing I'm interested in is watching the destruction of their search quality each time they decide to release one of these updates.

Exactly! Adding new signals can only be a good thing. It means potentially new signals to go after instead of just the usual backlinking.

It's when they start taking away signals is when things get fucked up like with the first penguin update where they supposedly took away a signal related to anchor text. We all know how badly that affected everything. So maybe adding new signals will only make our lives easier, atleast I hope ;)

Why hasn't a group of fellow blackhatters paid a visit to Matt Cutts house with a baseball bat yet??

Matt cutts is full of BS.... IF Google continues on their path they will just make more enemies in the IM world....even those of us who provide quality content on our sites will get drop kicked by Google for paid advertising slots and google owned sites.. this makes the search results biased and unreliable... sooner or later the average user will catch on and simply stop using Google... BING/YAHOO... will take over the market and hopefully they will be more keen on working WITH US instead of against US....

So funny... oh so funny!

Personally I simply concentrate to get more expert knowledge on setting up and controlling adwords campaigns. People that care about their results but dont do SEO with wisdom will loose positions more and more and will need someone for such campaigns more and more. Googles future goals (pushing adwords to its limits) are mine goals, too if I can monetize it.

One day if Matt cutts start providing his own seo services, that day he will realize about what he was doing :D

He can't, that would be a conflict of interest and Google would be in hot water with the FTC.

Fear Google Engineers! The world as we know it is going to end! OMG Me Spam Pages Not Working!
Serious IMers see Google updates as a help to clean up the noobs that trash the results. Yes, as you reading. If you want to remove my rep go ahead. But we all know people are joining to make money online, but they don't take 5 minutes of their precious life to read a post/guide and understand how things/tools work. Then you see them 10 days later posting "I 'm broke, things are not working. HELP!".

Not only their noobness hurt them but hurt others too. Because they are leaving the footprint behind that could be read and used against others. A bot like Senuke/SB/MS/UD etc are only created to increase your power and make your streamline process easier, but in the wrong hands could hurt many people. Take a gun as an example. The gun gives you the power to play God, you could take someones life in snap. The correct usage is to defend property or hunt for food. But this gun in the wrong hands could kill innocents, even the carrier.

That's why I say SEO is dead (the process as we know it). We have to evolve so much to stay making money is becoming a headache. Not one single website I have work in the last year, I have not seen the need to removed any "bad backlink". Yes, some adjustments need it to be done, because things where exposed.

So please Google, yes give us a couple of hard hitting changes so many noobs go get a job, and others take 5 freggin minutes to read how to use the tools. To this day, I know people running senuke that don't know what a VPN or Proxies are.

If you have a high quality content on your site, unique one written by professionals, high quality unique design, older domain with high pr rank, only high quality backlinks, and stuff like that, you have nothing to worry about, this update could be even good for you. Google is sick of copy/paste sites with tons of spam backlinks.
