This. Matt has $$ invested in several successful startups...and that is just going on stuff he has made public. I doubt the guy ever has to work a day of his life again if he doesn't want to.

Also, good for him. Everyone needs a recharge and no work or money is ever more important than spending time with family. If I was a betting man I would say Matt and his wife are rolling in the dough. Hope they enjoy it.
 
I can at least say that he did succeed, i don't even know the name of the man in charge of the Anti Spam team at Yahoo, Bing or other companies.

Interesting. The Family Medical Leave Act is for up to three months. I wonder if his wife is sick.
 
Matt Cutts is a good man. He deserves his long leave. If I have a company and have an employee like him, I will be so happy and appreciative of his hardwork.

I hope his 3 months leave isn't anything bad as RedRubies pointed out.

Read his blog post and you'll see that he's basically taking a long vacation with his wife. He also clearly states who'll be running the webspam department etc... I for one hope he enjoys his vacay, i'm sure we make his life hard enough and he needs a break :D

Matt Cutts is just a spokesperson of Web Spam team so it doesn't matter if he is there or not. The real evil is behind the screen.
