Was that really any surprise to you? BHW is - in a sense - a big competitor for Google's algos and whatnot, so obviously they're checking it out to see how people try to game the system. Not really any different from people here checking out backlink profiles of their competitors in order to try to outrank them.

I agree with him on the matter of people selling "money making methods", but black hat SEO is still alive and kickin'. People selling their washed up methods and tutorials are just making a quick buck off of the new guys, and it's wrong, but it's business. SEO on the other hand, still works, and SEO service providers are selling a valid service. Most service providers do over charge, but that's a separate issue.

Yeah, I think there is some kind of truth in his word. Why somebody is going to sell his very own tested technique instead of using for himself to earn a lot of money? There are some really nice tools and techniques to rank your site, I mean BH techniques, but they are all known and maybe varying from each to another just a little bit (some mods or variations).

Just a thought about paid traffic... who is gonna sell you a good targeted traffic if he can earn on it thousands of bucks?

It all depends on how BH your prepared to go. Think about it, if your a solid dedicated BH with no conscious or any pesky morals and ethics, you'll probably get all them products he mentioned for free anyway. Plus, like someone else said, BH is not just a powerful tool online, it should be explored off-line too with social engineering and other types of manipulations if your really committed. The way I look at it, rules and laws are meant to be broken and I have no problem venturing into boarderline criminality so long as nobody gets hurt physically. Well, that's my twisted morals for ya!

Would you say the same thing about an advertising agency? Why would they show you how to get exposure to your product instead of creating their own product and banking on it?

The bottom line is the companies selling SEO don't have to create a money making product to make their money. They can help people with money making ideas make money then SEOs make money.

According to Matt Cutts, an SEO should go out and create a plumbing company instead of providing a specific service to the plumbing company.
