This is a Scrapebox test that I am running right now.

I bought a micro-niche site from a provider on BHW for $37. It is a brand new domain name. Here are the keyword stats:

    2,900 Exact Match Local Searches
    $3.97 CPC
    2,350,000 Competing pages

I was able to grab an exact match .org domain name for keyword. All site has on it is WP install + a few plugins, three articles, and Adsense.

My test is to see how hard I can go on this site with just Scrapebox. If it gets sandboxed, I am going to keep slamming it till it comes out or 6 months go by with it completely de-indexed and dead.

Here is how it has ranked in Google for main keyword:
    4/25: - (unranked)
    4/26: 167
    4/27: 68
    4/28: 43

Started first scrapebox blast of 28,000 urls. Re-ran fails for a three days squeezing our more successful posts. Just grabbed list of successful posts, dumped those into links2rss.com to create XML lists, then uploaded those to separate domain name and mass pinged them.

Just started a massive 288,000+ url list of autoapprove blogs. Have it running on a dedicated server. Will probably take over night to finish.

I'll post an update tomorrow on rank and status of blast.

I am curious to get feed back from people. Has just blasting the shit out of your target website with SB worked for you? Did it fail miserably? I think we get so careful building these complicated link pyramids. I wanted to see for my self what would happen if I just beat the shit out of domain and tried to force my way to #1. If it crashes and burns, I'm only out $37 and had fun doing it.

What are your guys and gals thoughts?

    Update:

Ran my list of 288K blogs and finished with 123,000 successful backlinks.

Stayed in the 40's in Google till this morning when I awoke to see my site at position 5, page 1 for my main keyword! Already seeing some Adsense revenue from it as well.

Now I guess the next step is to see if I can hold this position or even improve it. My gut says this position is temporary. That it will sandbox at some point, but bounce back later. I had one site sandbox for about a month. I added some content and new backlinks over that month, then it shot back to Page 1 Position 4 and has held there since (2 months now).

    We will see!

What were your comments like? Just spam comments? I basically did the same with a 40k list, was this your own list or did you take it from somewhere else? Did you ping the blacklinks?

I have done some similar tests as well with scrapebox, however not as aggressive as you. But did direct scrapebox link building over a number of weeks, spreading links out evenly to inner pages too.

I got to page one too for many keywords, however drop into nowhere land - still there now. Waiting for them to come back.

Look forward to getting your updates.

I tested the a similar process 3 times. Always same result:

Mainpage isn´t showing up for 4 weeks, only subpages.
Mainpage comes and stays on ~#250 very constant.
AMR or profile backlinks don´t seem to have any impact - sites constantly stand bad.

I had to this time bad Onpage SEO.

So what did you made different?

Wow, awesome response to the thread. I will try to answer everyones questions. Sorry if I miss one, just ask it again.

    1) For pinging, what I did was I pinged the first block of links. The first blast I took all the live links and put them into XML files using links2rss.com. Then I uploaded them to a different domain name, and I mass pinged all the XML files. Each file has only 100 links, so I had a LOT of pinging to do.

The second blast I did not ping however. The first is just to get on Google's radar. The second is the big kill that I need Google to index slowly and over time. I'll do one more of these blasts in a week. Everytime I run a SB blast I always have links that failed. I save those to a seperate file and re-run them later. That way I know I am getting fresh links and I always get a decent success rate on second runs. Typically 65% of the first, but when you are doing over 100K links, that is still a shit ton. :)

    2) As for SEO, I am very specific on what I do. I've been in SEO for over a decade now professionally. I covered all the basics: all meta tags, H1, H2, bold, italics, wp tags, clean urls, and keyword dense content (3-5% density). I submit sitemaps to all major search engines. I submit RSS feeds to several RSS feed reader sites.

    3) Comments are just generic spun comments. For me it's all about anchor text. So in the 'names' field of SB, I put my primary keyword and that's it. Meaning all backlinks are targeting the same keyword. Is subsequent blasts I will also use secondary keywords as well.

    4) Right now all links are at the front page. In my next blast, I will add 3-4 pages of content to add depth and show Google the site is still growing. Then I will blast all the interior pages while also still blasting the front page. Each page will basically get 12-15K links on this blast.

So I think I have answered all the questions. If you have more, please feel free to post. I've been on BHW for a while now so I thought it would be fun to do an open experiment and share results and findings to everyone. :present:

    Subscribed.

Please keep using ONLY scrapebox for this test. I had plans to do this experiment when a number of so called SEO experts here in BHW mentioned blog comments is dead, but I did not have enough time and money to do so.

As for if you've missed any question, someone asked if you've used free auto approve list or paid? Or are you scraping your own list?

    Keep us updated!

    Thanks for subscribing HeroWillDrown!

To answer both your question and the one I missed:

    1) I am only using SB for this test. The only other thing that I am doing is pinging and submitting RSS feed, but those are pretty standard and minimal impact things. The pinging was only on the first round of links and not on the actual site. From here on out I will probably stay away from pinging new links.

    2) This is a hybrid list. I have scraped a bunch my self, bought some, traded some. All are auto approve links. If I were to combine all the auto approve links I have, it would probably be over 350,000.

I have thought about selling this list either in parts or as a whole here on BHW, but I don't know what the demand would be, how much to sell it for, or even the process of selling this correctly is. Maybe I will look into it if there is demand. But right now the list works so damn well I don't know if I want to sell it. ;-)

As for a brief update from earlier, I am still sitting comfortably at page 1 position 5. I am seeing steady traffic from this one keyword. No long tail or secondary keywords yet, but I think part of that is the site has minimal content. I might add more content later in the week. Right now I am keeping my writer very busy with other niche websites.

On a side note I have seen 5 new page 1 rankings today for different niches and am growing traffic across my network of sites at a rate of roughly 80% week over week, so good things are happening!

If you have any more questions, please feel free and ask!

    Thanks for the detailed answer.

Yes pinging and submitting RSS feeds is a standard thing. Anyway, what RSS Feed tool are you using? A simple one (RSS Ping on Scrapebox) or are you submitting to RSS aggregators that requires registering using tools like RSS Submit?

Repped you for this effort :)

I just hand submitted to a few RSS aggregators as well as adding the feed to search engines (ie Yahoo Site Explorer). I probably spent 10 minutes on this at most.

I've had SB so tied up that I haven't had a chance to use the RSS tool on SB, but I am spinning up another server right now and looking into buying another just to handle all the crap I am throwing at SB. :)

For this test domain I have not been deindexed. I have been sandboxed in the past but have always been able to get un-sandboxed. It's not as hard as most people make it sound. Sandboxing is not a permanent death.

To get out of sandbox I just keep adding content, building new backlinks. Sandbox is also a great to to go page by page and look for ways to improve your SEO. Make sure your meta tags are optimized, your using solid page structure (h1, h2, b, i, etc.). Once you get out of sandbox you will rock. All those links back you up. All of my biggest sites have been through sandbox. When they come out the other end you are golden. I have never had a double dip back into sandbox, so once out I pound the shit out of the site.

I had one site get sandboxed and I doubled downed my effort. Came out the other side with over 500,000 backlinks and page 1 position 1 for hundreds of keywords. Over 25,000 uniques a day. Of course this was back in 2005, but I have done this with smaller websites and even some very recent ones. Just pulled one out of sandbox this week actually and it is making money.

    Quick update:

I have added another 17,000 links today. All focused on the main keyword. Position is still #5 page 1 and am receiving steady traffic and might actually pay off the domain today from Adsense. Considering the site is SO young (site was created live only since 4/25), I'd say this one is going pretty damn well. :)

I have two more sites that are going live this week and I might post on those and some of the things I am doing if people are interested.

I hate to be a party pooper but this tactic is a direct path to de-listing.And quick one too!
I've done it on three autoblog sites . Not on the brand new but on a 2 month old sites which had about 800 pages by the time of blasting.I was blasting for a period of four weeks about 800-1200 comments per day with back links to deep pages. I was on page 1 position 5 for the iphone related keyword before I started but when I blasted I lost about 200 positions right off the bat. From there on sites were only loosing rankings - no gain whatsoever untill all of them got delisted. At different times but all of them went off the charts and I don't mean through the top. They fell through the bottom. Right now they are nowhere to be found . Keep in mind,I am not a noob autoblogger.I have quite a few sites that are doing alright and all of them pretty much alike and using the same backbone. So the SB tactic was to blame.
I kept one site which was visually pleasant and removed other ones so before you jump on the crazy idea of getting page#1 with crazy SB blasts think twice.
Someone obviously smoked some crack and decided to experiment with other's sites , suggesting a possibility of getting #1 with soley sb blasts.

IMHO one ought to be very VERY careful with SB and use it for other pusposes related to SEO other then 100-200 k comment blasts
