I've been reading a lot of the threads on here about mass emailing for affiliate links, products, etc. I understand that it takes time to build a list of people who are interested in your mailings - it's all a numbers game. I have friends who are starting up companies worldwide - as am I. One of the key problems with a start up is the initial traction for your product. It's easy to be Facebook with a billion users, but much harder to be the next Facebook...with 10 users. I know that AirBnB used CL spamming to get their initial user base (or at least grow it quickly). I'm interested in a repeatable blackhat method to get that initial traction for a start up. In order to make a userbase, you'd need to cut through 100ks of emails to get that initial 1,000 who you can launch with. I'm intrigued by mass emailing as the method to do this. I like that it's sending emails - something I am very familiar with. It's also relatively cheap and scalable. I'm looking for the $200 max method of building this initial list. And even better if it can be used for multiple start ups at the same time. However, do you guys know of other methods to build that 1,000 initial user base? I know that initial funnel needs to be very large to get 1,000 interested and excited users when you launch a start up. I'm thinking apps, websites, etc. Thoughts?
