Too many people in here fail to realize that OP has a different world view. A totally different world view. I guess it's hard to realize that people on BHW come from different religious and cultural backgrounds.

Any advice for OP? Not really. You should do what you think is right, nobody can tell you otherwise, you should be happy with your choice and you should either accept it or, depending on how you feel about it and what relation you two have, talk to her? I will choose to assume that marriage for you means much more than for most Western people, who seem to be posting stupid stuff in this thread.

In my opinion, you should feel free to talk to your long-term partner and feel free around them. In the modern (read: Western) world, you marry not in order to survive (as in e.g. third world countries where a big family will ensure your future), but because it's so much simpler and better to live with someone you love.

Bosnia is a western country that is catching up and joining the modern world even if the people there don't realize it yet. OP better wake up to the modern world view soon or he will be very miserable in the coming decades among with the others on here that are still thinking from old view point.

I would argue with that. What you think is right is what you've been taught over the years. There is no ultimate truth in this world, everything is relative to the society you live in.

Many of their views are indeed sexist and outdated, but in my opinion their family values are something that we westerners should consider, as in how eastern families tend to stick together and help eachother out, even far relatives tend to stay in touch. That's mostly nonexistent in our first world society where people are self-centered and even close relative seem to be very distant from eachother.

People stay in touch in the modern world as well and help each other out just as much as the old culture people, they just understand that you can communicate via telephone and not just letters in the mail. And that travel can be carried pretty fast compared to horses,walking.

Well I'd rule that out for most of the middle east as the alternative for women seems to be getting murdered a lot of the time.

Even in places like SE Asia/China most women would feel that they can't get divorced because they're too scared, when the only reason for more families staying together is because the woman is too scared to leave then I don't agree with it

Typical hysterical nonsense. In East Asia the women don't divorce because marriage is simply a better deal than being single - from a financial perspective.

Women in other parts of the world, for the most part, feel sorry for women in the west, they don't envy them. The typical housewife in Saudi Arabia thinks she is better off than an American single mother working 2 jobs.
