No worries. The forum members will manage to hold the urge to give you all their money until you contribute with posts first.

OP, there are some members that do the minimum required posts to become JrVIP and open a Sales Thread and then they never post again in any other section.
I would not order from those people, I would and do order from those people that have sales threads AND contribute to the forum with their knowledge and expertise.
Seriously, it doesn't matter how much of a great product/service you think you might have or whether you think you are a great salesman, but unless you can engage with customers and potential customers and build your reputation and trust on BHW you will probably find it tough going.



BTW, I don't think the escrow deposit idea is bad and it has been suggested before, unfortunately it is not practical to introduce and would cause more headaches for Admin/Mods

Adding onto this, albeit in a slightly different direction, I belive that just anyone shouldn't be allowed to post in Marketplace Threads. The seller of the service is allowed to bump their own thread, once per 72 hours, which is fine. The problem I see, is with those newbie accounts that were created a month before, the same month as, or during the life of this or a previous Marketplace thread that was initiated, by said seller. We've all seen them.

I think a user should have a certain post count + certain # of times being thanked + time on the forum, before being able to post anything inside Marketplace threads.

I'm sure that when mods look at BST threads they look at past posts / infractions too. If you post 100 bits of crapola / spam then you're bound to get dinged for it, meaning no BST!!!

I'm not 100% sure about using the thanks as a count though. The minute you make a metric valuable then you'll get dicks withholding thanks for really useful posts and others selling it on Fiverr!!!

Putting BST prices up could work though? Maybe it should be $100 to open up a new one?

I would even suggest making the BST a monthly subscription method to bring some quality into the already overcrowded marketplace.

A seller on BHW is judged by his overall reputation across the forum. It doesn't matter how great a product is if the person behind doesn't have a solid rep. This may come as a surprise to you but people at BHW really do take in to account a sellers rep which is something that is built up over time and with a lot of effort being put it.

Now anyone can some along and say, "Here, have a $1,000 deposit as proof of what a great person I am and that I won't scam anyone" but a decent sales thread here can make more than that in one day and by the time people report the seller as a scammer then enough days have passed that the seller is $1,000's up and doesn't care if he gets booted after that.

As for 'people will buy it if it's a great product', well, that's not entirely true. It is open to manipulation when it comes to reviews. If a seller was so inclined he could, with some planning, arrange for his 'friends' who are BHW members to leave him glowing reviews about the product. So people may buy it if others have said it is a great product but those reviews could be manufactured.

So that leaves the one thing that can't be forged, can't be bought and for which there is no shortcut - "reputation". That is what you need to build here and that is why there is a 100 post count requirement as from those 100 posts people can judge you, the person behind the account, the person behind the product, the person they're handing over their money to in exchange for a product/service.

The requirements are there not to make it difficult for someone to open a BST thread, they are there so that others can form opinion of YOU so they can then decide if you're the kind of person they want to do business with.

So far, to me, you're coming across as brash and just eager to sell to people as if it is some kind of right everyone should have here. But that's just my opinion.
