Marketing, whether online or offline is a skill that some are born with and some are'nt. You either got it or you don't. I decided to write this post, because alot of people come on here and ask elementary questions about marketing. When I was in kindergarden I was selling crayons for lunch milk. I was a born marketer. If you ask any REAL marketer on here, they will tell you, there is not a day we make less than $100 (unless we choose not to). When you come to bhw and ask different questions on how to start making money, you are already asking the wrong question. "What is the right question?" you may ask..... Ahh my friend, thats the catch. Once you figure out the right question, you will no longer need the answer ;). Not to mention that most people on here worked very hard to get where they are, and had to learn things on their own. They didnt do all of that work to just give the answer to everyone who asks..... But if you dont know, you will one day see how we feel.

Now I said that marketing is a skill that you either have or you dont, so that means that you will never be a marketer right? NO! Thats not what I'm saying at all. Mechanics are'nt born as mechanics, but they learn. And the same goes for any other skill. If you work hard enough towards your goals, and never give up, you will indeed become a great marketer.

Heres a tip though. With all of the competition out there among many other factors, marketing is getting harder and harder, so if you really want to be a marketer, you must 100% commit to it, and be able to adapt in order to survive. For instance, I was marketing accross all 50 states in one category on cl and making over $100 a day, until cl decided to start geo ghosting. Thats cool, now I market in one city (just in about 10 categories) and still make over $100 a day. Thats just like saying, if I was selling crack in ten different cities, then the feds tighten up the interstates so I cant transport, then I start selling crack, heroin, weed, and meth in just one city, so I could still make the same money.

Anyways, heres a small list of things to remember when marketing:

    1: Never give up
2: Set your goals high, and reach them
3: Dont take no for an answer
4: You are in control because you have what others NEED!
5: Reach out to the maximum # of people each day
6: Be ready and willing to adapt
    7: Keep your head up
8: Always remember where you came from and how you started
    9: Have self confidence

I don't agree with this statement: "Marketing, whether online or offline is a skill that some are born with and some aren't". I believe that marketing is a skill that you learn in time and anyone has the chance to master it. Is true that some people have a natural born instinct for this kind of skill, but that is not an normative. Everybody can learn marketing.

I do agree with the list "small list of things to remember when marketing". I think that is a must for anyone. I also believe, that in order to have success with marketing you have to do a lot of testing and mistakes.

    All the best.

Lol, it sounded like a good comparison, Im a marketer, but when I was younger, you know, I did what young people in the hood do. But then as the years went on and I got shot several times, close calls with the law, then I had 7 kids (5 of which are girls) I realized, marketing is a much better way for them aswell as myself, because if I go to jail, or die, some other dude will be taking care of them, or no one. And I cant have that. But either way, the hustle is the same, you either make it, or you dont :D

I always make an attempt to be positive...but this is the biggest load of crap.

Just because you traded things with other kids doesnt mean you were born that way, its just something you figured out. There is NO such thing as being "born" a certain way

You're wrong..... For one, I never said that if you're not born with it, that you cant do it, actually, I said anyone can learn to do it. And as far trading things in school..... that was just an example. Point is that yes some ARE "born" with it, its like a "natural instinct". But all that aside, the real point of this whole thread is to not give up and you will succeed. So whats crap about that? Just sayin.....:D

i never said learning it was crap

i said that the idea of being born with it is crap

because it is, you may want to think that you were born with it, because it makes you feel better or something, but you weren't, you just had a good idea as a kid and that was it

Are you serious? Marketing is not a born skill. I didn't know what it was until a few years ago, now look at me. Several sources of income. It would be safer to say "Marketing is based on a combination of time, effort, and luck". I learned offline stuff since my family owns an 8 figure business, but no one in my family was born with any knowledge like that, our knowledge was passed down and obtained by experience. Nothing can beat experience, after all Failure is the best teacher.

    * you're :D

I agree though, a person might have natural tendencies towards being a salesman but a person can learn any thing at any time. It's laughable to imply that, just because a person doesn't know anything about marketing to begin with, that they can't learn and master the subject.

Also selling (sales) and marketing are two different things. Just because you can hustle crayons in the schoolyard or crack on the corner, that doesn't mean you're necessarily good at the broader discipline of marketing.

    Here's some marketing tips:

We should all know the first steps in marketing is developing a marketing strategy and marketing mix.

    Here's some tips:
    1) Identify Consumer needs
    2) Choose a target market
    3) Satisfy the needs of the consumer
    4) Positioning (Differentiate yourself from competition).

    Some more:
    1) Enter a market with low competition and a growing industry.
    2) You want a high market share in a growing industry- us marketers consider that a "star".
(High market share in a non-growing industry is a "cash cow".)
(low market share in a non growing industry is a "dog".)
(A low market share in a growing industry is a "question mark", or "Problem Child".)

No, but in elementary you learn how to read, and if you could read, then you would see that I also said, anyone can learn any skill, by going to school or whatever.....

Premise 1: Marketing, whether online or offline is a skill that some are born with and some are'nt.

Premise 2: You either got it or you don't.

Conclusion: Those who aren't born with marketing skill can learn marketing.

So what's your point here? You contradicted your own statements.

If you said A, please stick with it.

You also learn definitions in elementary school, I didnt contradict anything. Its real simple, you got it or you dont, BUT THAT DONT MEAN YOU CANT LEARN IT. Lmao But all bs aside, the main purpose of this thread was

    1: Never give up
2: Set your goals high, and reach them

3: Dont take no for an answer
4: You are in control because you have what others NEED!
5: Reach out to the maximum # of people each day
6: Be ready and willing to adapt
    7: Keep your head up
8: Always remember where you came from and how you started
    9: Have self confidence

There were a couple of people who read the thread that actually have the brain capacity to see the big picture... I guess its another one of those things that some people have and some dont lmao.....

Can't disagree more. Marketing is a mindset. It's about learning to figure out problems people have and then providing solutions to those problems. You can develop this mindset with practice and time.

Certain aspects of marketing, such as copywriting and selling, are skills. Again some people may have more natural talent in these areas than others, but anyone can learn to become a good at selling.

This clarification is helpful. The title to your thread seemed to indicate you believed you could not learn marketing, which I would disagree with...interesting thread.

Hey. How much were crayons going for back in the day?
I didn't know kindergarteners carried wads of cash. I just may have found my new niche
