Just came across this huge list of SEO myths which helped me clear many doubts. There are many myths which we follow and waste our time and resources. This will definitely be useful for individuals like me with limited resources and tools.

Well I believed in these -

Starting a website on an expired domain is better - Many times I purchased an old domain and found it was banned in GWT

Two of my sites didnt do well even though the domains were 8 to 10 yrs old.

Using 301 redirects for SEO still works - I thought they still work.

Hosting Location is important

Schema Markup is a Ranking Factor

H1 tags are a crucial element for SEO

Meta tags will boost your rankings

An XML Sitemap Will Boost Your Rankings

Linking out (such as to Google.com) helps rankings - I believe linkin to authority sites helps

You should update your content X times a month

Link location in content doesn't matter

Infographics are gone - didnt know about Guestographics

This is a very nice list. But IMO, not all of these might exactly be myths and we would want to do our own testing ...

The only way we can find out is by running tests ourselves.

I think linking out to authority sites in your niche does help and looks natural.

I know this site, I 2 years ago was a BIG fan of this site, the site changed its name after 2015 seemed? It called vope.net before! And I love that site much more than current one, R.I.P

Don't they? I mean, if you 301 a site in the same exact niche which had highly relevant and similar content...I can't see why it shouldn't work..

Nice effort OP. Not all of them are technically correct as far as myths are concerned, but I'd say most of them look okay by me.

After researching a bit more I think it depends on many factors. Previously it was thought that for 301 redirects there is a loss of 15% page rank. Now Google says that there is 0% loss of PR for all 3xx redirects. But there is a catch. If a page redirects to a completely non relevant page then there is a 100% loss of PR. But also note - Google's made announcements like this before that later showed to work differently in the real world.
