Managed to steal myself a backlink from Wikipedia

So i signed up on wikipedia, and just throw in a really small article with my url in it. And Google picked it up.
So as a n00b i ask. Will this be a good backlink to have?

Yes, it's a very good backlink to have. Even though it's no-follow, I'm quite sure it counts as an authoritative link. Plus, I get a few referrerals a day from a link I have on Wikipedia.
 
Might not help you a whole lot with SEO value, but it will definitely look credible enough to bring some people to your website.

Maybe? Just kidding, since I am a noob I thought it was kind of funny that is was so simple to manage it.

I have a little over 30 links on Wikipedia... they are great for targeted traffic. You can't spam the place with your links but if you have something of value to offer, you can end up with links there and you'll most certainly get click through traffic.

Good job man. I'm not sure about power of the link juice as it is probably nofollow link but ya as others said authority links and some click thru traffic always helps..all the best :)
 
So long as you don't grossly violate the rules and stay away from controversial entries (say nothing even slightly unconventional about religion or politics, for example) it's still very possible to get entries up on Wikipedia. If you find an obscure topic or stub, then write a wiki like article on your site (0% spammy looking), you can easily put up a short article on wikipedia that links to your non-spammy page that stays up.

An old ebook about the tactic suggested you may likely pick up more backlinks from others who end up linking to you, based on the perceived authority the wiki link gives your page. Another variation is to just edit an (uncontroversial) existing entry with a link to your site. it pays to do some legit editing to improve other wiki entries so your general activity doesn't ever look self-serving.
 
I can tell what i did.
I have an autoblog with a popular misspelled word.
I created an article about how many people actually are misspelling the word. Then I inserted the URL to the not misspelled website. And mentioned in the article, that searching for that misspelled word would return to "my URL"

Did anyone understand that? Not sure if I managed to explain this "method" correct.

All this was ofcourse done on wikipedias website.

Nope. I got 2 links from PR5 pages on wikipedia and no change in serps. Got 2 PR4 ******** links from PR5 domains and rankings jumped from #12 to #7.
