But some of theese categories is just ranked because of the authority of the website, ie. maybe there is only 1-10 links to the category,
and then of couse internal links.

Maybe I'm just in deny mode right now, but I refuse to believe my site which I ranked #1 would suddenly just jump out of SERPs.

But lets see. I wasn't scared of this update, because my sites have a very clean profile. Hopefully this was just random jumping and testing.

I have seen slightly differences so far,nothing too scary.
 
From what i see for this one update, it had something to do with the youtube serps.
 
Saw a major shift in one of my niches around Aug 14th I flew back about 20 spots. I was the only site ranking with GSA SER links, it looks like they're tightening the Penguin noose even tighter with regard to some signals.

Less competitive niches, no change. However, Google does seem to strongly favor ranking inner pages over the home page for some reason on all of my sites.
 
I too saw change one of my health niche site has gone down 15 points for a couple of keywords and auto repair site gone up 10 points approx.
 
I tried to make a thread about this the other day but it didn't catch on. The easiest way to figure out if it's your site that's moving or the SERPs in your niche in general, is to track websites that are NOT doing SEO. I started tracking prospective clients for the local SEO niche I operate in, and now I never have to worry if it's just my sites that are fluctuating or that niche being affected or the entire SERPs. I know for a fact these people are not doing SEO, so when I see dramatic moves I don't worry about cause I know it's not because of the linking I'm doing to my client's sites or whatever.
 
This is whats currently happening to my 1 year old website: Yesterday AM Rank: 7 - Yesterday PM Rank: N/A - Today AM Rank: 7 - One hour ago Rank: N/A and now Currently ranking back at position 7. Does this mean the website has most likely been penalized? Is it usual before an update for a website to go N/A before coming back stronger? Any help appreciated.

I don't have any churn and burn sites... all i have is 1 site that i have been working on turning into an authority. Just had tons of my keywords jump 30+ positions over night (all inner pages)

Exact same thing happened to me, however not on every keyword just 1 or 2.

Same happening with one of my sites. It disappears and reappears with every refresh. BUT this happening only when i refresh from the home. When I look it up from a server (with links browser) it stays in the serps firm. Dunno what to think.
 
On my side I am seeing also some bounce too, Dutch sites. Slightly serp increase.

I am using accuranker.com to track immediatly my rankings. With a click on the button you can refresh your rankings anytime. Have used serpbook in the past but it was innacurate which annoyed me.

yeh exactly the same thing was happening to me yesterday too. disappears and then reappears. the crazy part is it was happening on my white hat sites too! (no link building). not sure what to make of it but things are nice and stable today across the board for me.

These niches are manually reviewed by Google, also not sure if your checking tool updates more than once a day (mine looks at around 10 sites at various spots on around 150 niches every 6 ish hours).

Only positions 10+ were affected and it lasted only 6-8 hours.

Definitely an update happening. Shits been crazy since last night with sites dropping in and out of the results.
 
For whitehat authority sites, the traffic levels are increasing gradually as usual. For the usual C&B, I am noticing huge fluctuations.
