making money online for 1 year

At 23 years old - you shouldnt be planning to do this for a career... if you dont think you need to work, then at least consider furthering your education. You are way too young to depend on these methods to make a living. Things change so rapidly, this month you may make $500 but the next three months you may only make $5... give it some more thought before you take the plunge.

I support your decision, you SHOULD QUIT your job....... this job must be too sucky for you to keep it anyway..... MOVE ON.....

But do get another job 1st, something close to what you like and continue your IM Journey. Listen to the peeps here, they do speak with experience :)

Dun wan you to go hungry while E-whoring, writing articles or uploading you tube videos...... :P

Juz my 2 cents....

Hmmm... Not sure what that means, or if I agree with it at all really. I believe this is a great choice of career, and the fact that he's 23 (I'm 22 BTW) makes it even better. Online marketing is such a new field, and is still so far in its infancy that there is no better time to enter. It will only be evolving and getting larger, if you can enter it now, by all means go for it, but do it sensibly. There is simply no way that internet marketing will become unprofitable or a shitty industry. Marketing in itself is something that will always be around because people/companies will always need to advertise, and the internet is the single BEST way to do it. What other way can you attract so many people? You literally have access to the entire world as you marketplace. Add to this the fact that such a small percentage of people, and businesses for that matter, truly understand how to use this as a medium of advertising, and you have yourself a fucking sweet ass career choice. Especially if you enjoy doing it (which I do).

But, and there is always a but, I still stand by my opinion of not quitting you day job, or any other personal responsibilities, just yet. I practice what I preach myself.. I am currently finishing my business degree in which I have 2 years left. This gives me two years to work on my IM business on the side, and hopefully at the end of those 2 years I will have a successful business built with a very strong foundation (instead of a bunch of get rich quick methods) that I will be confident that it's going nowhere but up.

BUT, I also have a contingency plan set in place, as always, because one thing I've learned in my life, is things don't always turn out as planned. So at the 2 year point, I will re-evaluate my position and if my business isn't at a standard that I'm satisfied could support me for the rest of my life, I will move onto starting a Chartered Accountant designation (which lasts 3 years), while at the same time still working on my IM Business. The reasoning behind this choice is that the designation is probably the best degree/designation of any kind in terms of preparing you to run/plan/startup/operate a business. If by the point of completing my designation (27-28 years old) I haven't reached a sufficient level of success in my IM Business, which is highly unlikely, then I will be left with the following:

1. extreme amount of experience in IM/design/coding
2. very strong foundation on how to run a successful business (CA degree+experience)
- With which, combined with my IM experience, I can rewrite a new, and effective, plan of attack for tackling my online business. OR evaluate a new offline market/business which I can launch (possibly a CA and/or consulting company).
3. Backup career plan which will earn me great money if I ever choice to act upon it, whether it be at that time, or a later time in my life
- as I said thing don't always turn out as planned, and I may find myself at a point of struggle/lack of finance from my business or whatever it is I am doing at that time. If such a case arises I can easily get a job with a CA designation earning my 6 figures.

Okay, now I know what I wrote above was long, and many of your probably didn't read it. But the reason I wrote it, is not to tell everyone my life story or anything of that sort at all. Also, it is not only geared at the OP, but also at a multitude of other IM's/users here who may not have a proper plan, contingency or initial, to tackle this career/business properly. The result of this business (IM) having such low start up costs is that it doesn't have a large enough barrier to entry, this is both good and bad. It gives everyone an opportunity, but at the same time sets a lot of them up for failure. I know there is lots of quick methods to make fast cash, but that's all it is, fast cash.. It doesn't last long. I recommend everyone who's trying to do this thing seriously, take some time to not only write a proper business plan, with clear and realistic goals/methods to achieve these, but ALSO a LIFE PLAN, complete with contingencies that some of you may not want to believe are even possible. I know this isn't a life planning class, but you will thank me later... The above plan may seem overly detailed, but I have every angle covered, and so should you. Too often we get caught up in the heat of the moment, and excited about new opportunities forgetting that they may not succeed exactly as planned (and probably won't), so as yourself a question (not only the OP), once again dealing with opportunity cost:

Would you rather believe in the best-case-scenario and be screwed if you fall short, or even a faced with the worst-case-scenario? Or would you rather hope for the best-case-scenario but be prepared, and have contingencies set in place, for the worst?

Just a couple thoughts, take them for what they are. :)

eskimo-

Just hit your blog. Good start, but you need ads, dude! I was all ready to click through whatever you had just to give you some numbers, and nothing. :(

Check out other's blogs and sign up with someone, please!

Cheers and good luck! :)

Get a job and start reading! There are so many months of trial and err you have to go through...

Aim to befriend with thousands of people like dhamma man, then join multiple cpa networks.

Go for it dude! It's a helluva challenge, and it could actually be a fun and learning experience. Just be clear as to why you are doing it, although to me it seems you're doing it for the right reasons.

Some of you other guys are too frickin' safe. Stop pussyfooting around, take a chance, risk SOMETHING. Life is no fun when you're playing it safe all the time, and most people who have really succeeded in life (not just in making money, but other areas aswell) have taken lots of risks. "But no, there's a financial crisis going on" "There's a recession" ... well BOO-F**KING-HOO, there's ALWAYS something (potentially) bad going on ... always.
Not saying life is all butterflies, sunshine and rainbows, and not saying you shouldn't use your head, but you can't wait around forever and you can't control the world. People need to embrace the good in the bad and the bad in the good.

The point is, you're going to die no matter what, and a couple of decades after you die, you WILL be forgotten. Basicly, in the end it doesn't matter what you do, so you might aswell be true to yourself, do _whatever_ the f**k you want, enjoy life, treat other people with respect, spread the love and all that jazz. Yeah, it is easier said than done, but it's the truth, for me at least.

Anywho, good luck and have fun Eskimo, I'll be following your blog because I have the same goals! :)

PS! Just one tip, aim higher. The sky's the limit bro.

500 bucks? Just go over to AC and write articles if you get strapped for cash. Just open a ton of accounts. If all you need is 500 to survive a month that should be no problem.

Im probably being dumb here, whats AC?

I have one thing to say to you, follow your dreams....

He said he was from South Africa. he needs a US account to get upfront payment.

But then of course, getting a US account isnt too hard...:D

just in case some of the newbies doesn't understand what he means, I'll clarify it for ya! When you sign up for Associated Content (AC) you have to make sure to say that you are a citizen of the US, also a good idea to put a valid US zip code but not necessary. With this done, you can submit articles for upfront payment (which means they will pay you certain amount usually at least $1.50 as soon as the article is accepted, the alternative is getting paid per every 1000 views your article receives).

The limitation is that as soon as you reach $500 total payments received, AC will request that you send in your US tax information. This is obviously not possible for you, hence the reason you have to open multiple accounts (preferably using different ip's) and rotate them out as soon as you reach $300-400. This is possible by creating several paypal emails within your one paypal account (paypal allows up to 8 personal emails and 8 more business emails). Try not to post more than 5 articles/account/day or your account will quite likely get flagged if you have multiple ones, or if you are doing anything fishy.

There are multiple threads, including one HUGE thread, on this topic in the Make Money section of this forum if you need more details. But this is a summary of what to do if you are desperate ;)

theres no way this guy is living on his own.

no one with any brains would be living on there own, and decide "hey lets wing it from now on!"

with that said, good luck to you, hope mom doesnt make you do chores while ur jobless, but hey if everything works youll be hiring the mexican next door to mow the yard soon :)

I think he's putting himself in a situation where you absolutely need to make the 500 mark and drive motivation that way.

I say think it twice, but if you have the courage and determination, we wish you all the best. Reminds me of the sleepless nights before my mids/finals :)

Earning cash online is not easy as saying 1-2-3. You need to build strong reputation and keep good efforts. If you have money to invest in PPC and test yourself then it is OK, otherwise quitting day job is not recommended.

quitting ones job and putting themselves into a very dangerous life situation should not be necessary to garner motivation for success in this game here. There is a difference between taking stupid unnecessary risk and calculated risk, these two concepts are fucking worlds apart. It is one of the reasons that I believe "businessmen/women" and "entrepreneurs" are born... Of course I agree they must be molded via the avenue of knowledge whether from proper education of self-learning, but there has to exist a certain way of thinking. People too often mistake this innate ability as the ability to take risks (ie. a risk-taker), but they would be strongly oversimplifying this whole concept.

Taking risks is great, taking unnecessary risks isn't.. If the only type of risks you are taking are calculated, researched and determined to have a high chance of success, then you really aren't putting yourself in danger/harm of failure. These are the kinds of risks successful entrepreneurs speak about. They are only considered risks when looking at the short term, but in the long term they are not at all. Also, they are necessary when making any sort of decision in general, as that is the nature of decision making.

Let me compare this concept to a game of poker. One could say that each round, these professional poker players are taking risks, because they aren't sure what exactly the other players have. There is always a chance that they may lose that particular round. But there is also a reason that the best players are always the ones to win the world championships. Why is this? Because they really aren't taking risks in the long-term (complete game, or tourney), only in the short-term (each hand), and each of their risks is minimized as much as it can be. These players could be compared to successful entrepreneurs, who take short-term calculated risks only if necessary, and minimize them as much as possible. Now lets look at poker players who think they know, but they really don't. They take risks each hand, the play sloppy, they think it's a "game of chance" and you are "depending on the cards", they are wrong! They take unnecessary risks, and therefore lose in the long term as well because statistically, the risks they take will fail more times then they will succeed. Now of course some of these players will fluke out and win, as well as some entrepreneurs may selects a great business and get lucky, or Internet Marketer might launch a lucky campaign and strike it big. But in GENERAL this is not the case.

This may be long-winded, I know, but all I'm trying to display here is the difference in taking smart chances and stupid ones. IMO, quitting your day job is unnecessary, and more often than not, internet marketers FAIL, especially at the start. I know everyone thinks they will start something and the first thing they do will strike rich and they will be a fucking super-affiliate, etc etc... But statistically there are WAYYYYY more failures in this business then successes, at least in the short-term, which without a job could mean being fucked. I believe that if you stick with this business, eventually you can succeed, but why take an unnecessary risk that has and very high chance of failure and put the stakes so high (quitting your job and possibly being fucked if you fail)?

Motivation in this business should come from internal factors, not external, otherwise I can guarantee you won't last long. Thanks for reading whoever did, and hope this post gave some people a little different perspective maybe. Good Luck with whatever you choose, and I wish you success.
