I did the same as you when I was 22. I was already making a little money, like $1000/month, while I was living at home. But that got me close to nothing where I lived. I had to move out, live on my own. I was totally broke and had to spend any money I got immediately. Couple months later I was making +$3K.

Reminds me of when Robert Kiyosaki said in his book to always pay yourself first then the bills. By doing this he was forced to find new business opportunities. I say go for it!

Good luck dude! Personally, I'm going the opposite route as you. I'm starting to do this on the side as a supplement to my day job. Extra cash (from IM) goes to get out of debt first. Then, maybe I'll consider going at it full time.

I am going to go against the grain here. I say do it if you don't have a wife or kids. I was homeless for 3 months and it was the best thing that happened to me. It really got my creative juices flowing.

You got to want it bad enough that you are willing to sink or swim. This is the perfect time in your life to take some chances. Make sure you can get online and eat, you will be doing better than you think in less time than you think. Once you get it going though, don't mess it up. Build and save, build and save, build and save. You will do great.

When I started making money online I was working a 9-5 5 days a week. I eventually asked for mondays off (They thought I was going to school, otherwise they would have said no) then I got tuesdays off as well. Then I got to quit

I have a good full-time career therefore, I was advised by a successful entrepreneur to keep my full-time job until I am consistently for 6 months making at least twice or three times as much as my current job.

The money I make here on the web I use to re-invest in my internet business and by doing this it continually grows exponentially.

Its like giving yourself a HUGE raise without going to the boss.

You should listen to some of these guys saying not to quit your job just yet. Having some extra money to through around without being worried about paying your next bill will catapult your IM career. Put it this way, if you quit your job, you literally will have NO income, what if you decide to do PPC? Well you can't because you have no investment money, or you might scrounge up $100-200 and invest it, but you would be successful because you'll be way too cautious with that money. Another example is buying content, you can't afford it... Or if you're into BH methods well you will be able to make exponentially more if you purchase a dedicated server or VPS, instead of some junk $6.95/month shared hosting which will cause you nothing but problems.

Look at the opportunity cost of quitting your job and way out the pro's/con's. Let me tell you from my experience that sometimes you're actually more productive when you have less time, then you are with more time on your hands. Good luck on your decision and make it only after you think hard, not on impulse.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and warnings! I have though about this a lot, and done my research (thanks BHW!). Right now, I put about 2 hours a day into marketing and trying to get people to my sites. If I can put in 10 hours a day into this as well as making more sites/blogs and trying out affiliates and stuff like that, I think I can do it. Now is the time to try in 5 years I will probably have a career going, maybe even a kid or 2 (god forbid) and I will have missed the boat to try this. I have calculated, that just on the sites I have now (3), I get around 10 000 page views per month, which works out to about $50. These sites are new and small, so there is a lot of chance for growth and improvement, and I am also going to make a LOT more sites. If i get 1000 000 page views, I should make (according to these stats) $5000. I need to increase my traffic per month 8 fold to make that in a year (roughly). So, if I have 24 sites, this seems possible. I won't be able to market them as well as I do now so I am aiming to have around 35 sites up within the next few months. This, combined with affiliates and online surveys and stuff like that, I think I can hopefully make my $500 a month pretty easily. Visit my blog to see how I am doing! Yo eskimo, I salute your courage! It is not easy feat and definitely not recommended for everyone to quit their day job just like that. But by doing that you may have somehow forced yourself into that corner of "succeed or else" situation from which something magical could happen. Many people never take action because they are not in a desperate enough situation to take action. So while ur quitting of job is rather drastic, i think ironically it may spur u to success even faster.

I'm earning $50-$100 a day thanks to adult related content! You don't need to hire a porn actriss or so, you don't even need to let your visitors pay... Ads can generate allot you know... Just like PPS. You just need to attract visitors and that isn't so hard when you got some good quality movies hosted/leeched/linked.

If you have a good job, I recommend not to loose it- by keeping in mind that recession has hit every thing.

Try to maintain the blog along with the job.

Quitting your job isn't going to work out. Just look at the economy, its in recession. Also, making money through online isn't that easy. It requires some knowledge and work.

Ever heard of multiple streams of income? Don't rely on just one source of $$$. Have a job, a blog, adsense income, CPA income, open a non-IM business, have a retail channel. Bottom line, don't limit yourself to this one blog or you will be sorry. Just my opinion but keep in mind, I've been around the block a leeeetle bit longer than you. Good luck.

I'm seriously thinking of doing this, but I've got an alt biz of making kettle corn that pays about 30 grand a year. If I don't get the coverts, I can always live off of popcorn.

Now that I think about it, I've managed get to position #3 on Google for "kettle corn". I expect to get to the top once I've run BMD for the next 6 months and push out Wikipedia. Anyone got any ideas on how to monetize my site for such a niche?

When you come home from work each night, treat it as if you are coming to a second job.

If you don't have the work ethic to come home from work and then put in a nights work at home online, you might have trouble doing this full time. The problem is its too easy to treat something like this in a laid back fashion, but let there be no doubt it does involve work. At your day job the hierarchy is simple, if you don't do your job your going to be fired.

Unless your extremely money motivated (probably are if your day job is sales) then you will probably find all sorts of reasons to screw around rather then putting in a solid day work.

You know yourself better of course, I don't know you at all really. But take a long look at yourself before you make the leap. Good luck either way!

Well like everbody else i'll say the same thing keep the day job and when you'll make money with your blog simply invest it for a ROI.

first go good with adsesn and try some CPA or Affiliate marketing
make 2 -3 online income stream, not just adsense
then you think about quitting a job..............
