Hey guys
Before I begin talking about this topic, anyone who's gonna start shitting about ethics, morale or start talking about being more careful when making a partnership deal, should consider skipping this thread as I am not in here for a lesson.
For those experienced, I may be asking a dumb question but I don't have much experience in the area so wanted to check if anyone had any experience with this.
Most recently, I had an opportunity to acquire a targeted email list (niche is Internet marketing and SEO) from an ex-partner I was growing a website with. Initially, we split work and I was in charge of content creation, while he dealt with all marketing activities. Our plan was to grow a big website, earn money through affiliate marketing, especially by using email marketing. I never done anything like it before, so I partnered with a guy (who is a friend of a close friend) who had experience in the marketing area while I committed to content creation and some design work.
By accident, I have found out that he is planning to cut me off and keep the website to himself and he has described me as someone who had little to no influence to the success of the website (luckily heard that from my close friend on time).
He was an administrator for most accounts, had more access to stuff than I did and he cut my access of for most website related stuff and he used some dumb excuse as to why he did it.
The only thing he didn't know is that I still have an access to the Active Response account with all email lists.
Is there any way to use these email lists to make money now? I don't have a built out relationship with these people, I plan to cut ties with this website altogether but if there is a way to use these email lists, I might have a way to still earn some profit from it?
Has anyone ever done something like this before? Email lists together have about 15k emails, I know for a fact they are targeted as shit, bought products from our website before, signed up for webinars and were engaged in website content.
I do not mind learning about email marketing, I adapt quickly and learn fast, I have a team of copywriters, I just want to know if it's possible to use these lists now that I am not connected to the website anymore.
I appreciate all the help that I can get. Feeling pretty angry on myself, I screwed up big time by not having a contract in place (thought I don't need one, my friend vouched for this guy), By the way I still made over $50k in profits over the last 2 years from it, if anyone thought that my partner got all profits, it was split equally.
