I decided to take action (since that's what everyone is saying on this forum) and created my first micro niche site two weeks ago. I did the keyword research (after months of reading and figuring out HOW to do it, thanks bhw for finally explaining everything) and found a decent keyword that has a $2.00 CPC. (I used the google keyword search).

There's roughly 350 exact monthly searches for my keyword and the competition doesn't seem too tough. (please keep in mind i have no prior experience and everything I'm did was based on what I read from this forum)

Next, I made sure that I got the exact domain name. After that I wrote two 500 word articles myself and updated my site. I used the socrates wordpress theme (found this in the download section) and used the all-in-one seo wordpress theme. After everything was set up, I bookmarked the site on stumbledupon and delicious. I also tried to do some forum profiles (maybe 10-20).

A few days later, I appeared on the first page of G for my keyword (3 words) at spot #10. I have around 20-50 backlinks according to site explorer and comment on a few blogs every day (maybe 5-10 a day). I've been getting 1-3 unique visitors a day now for the past week, and maybe a click every other day. (according to adsense, each click is worth anywhere from a dime to $1.25)

This is EXTREMELY exciting for me and I would like to help all the newbies out there who are just getting started. In addition, if you have some advice for me I'd greatly appreciate that as well. I'm only in the 10th spot on the first page, so I assume if I can get to the top 3 I can rake in some more $$. It'll be exciting moving to the next level, and honestly this sh!t is FUN!!!!

Last but not least, thanks BHW! :)

Hey great job OP i'm just about to launch my micro niche site and I can say I can only hope I am successful as well. If you dont mind me asking, did you use that website to apply for adsense?

Congrats! The only thing that sucks is that your keyword only gets 350 searches a month. BUT at least you took action and now you know what you need to do to get more sites ranking, and earning money.

@lex_luthor - no, I had an old approved adsense site from back in the day.

@dgfalk - thanks! should I try to move this site to rank 1, or find a better niche?

Well done :D

Keep up the work! :)

Tip - write a few more articles and buy a xrumer blast for all the articles and your main site.

The xrumer blast will help you rank everything in a few weeks and you can move on to the next micro niche site.

@IamNRE - can my articles be on my site, or did you mean write some articles to submit to ezine/etc and link to the main site?

Congrats aarontorng on your success. Now scale it up 100 times and start earning hundreds of dollars a day . Good luck

Add 1 or 2 more articles to cover the content part .
For backlinks : Try to diversify :
some web 2 pages linking back to your site and your articles.
keep creating profile's link
Blog comments
Forums posts if possible as well
Submit your articles to article directories .
Xrumer , Scrapebox or Senuke Blasts can be useful here .
If you do that , you should see your website ranking on top three in no time .
once that is done , try to write down what you did for the first site so you have a clear plan of action and duplicate it over and over again for different keywords/niches .
Cheers

Great job man.

I just created 4 micro niche sites with exact keywords. 2 are medium competition and 2 have medium-low competition.

I plan on getting about 5 articles for each site, putting some profile backlinks, article submissions, a few blog comments a day, etc.

My goal is on page optimization. I am very good at link structure and making sure google knows what my inner pages are about. Make sure you have all your pages link to your main page with the proper anchor text.

More articles for your main site. I like to cover every aspect of a micro niche, this way you will rank for things even when you dont have links for those url.

I think that once you take action, you are officially out of the newbie group.

But good job taking action man. You are putting yourself in the 10% in IM who
actually take action.

Now just keep working on getting that site ranking higher. I'm betting that with
a good CTA in your title tag and increased ranking, you will be making a lot more.

thank you all for these wonderful tips! i will test this out and let you know how things progress.

@IamNRE - would you recommend link building for the other articles? or just focus on the main site and let the other keywords serve as a 'added value' to the reader?

Buy scrapebox *$57 only, and blast all the pages with various keywords that get searched for and you want to rank for.

Or buy a xrumer blast for like $30 and have them blast all the urls at 1 go.

Or do the SEO links yourself, I am thinking with 300 exact searches the competition wont be that hard so with a few profile links on themed forums and post a few threads and posts on those forums with your links in the signature should get you ranking on everything.

thanks so much. last question - is it important to have your profile links in the same category as your niche, or is the idea to get as many profile links as possible regardless of what site it's on?

When getting profile links make sure the DOMAIN PR is High. If the domain PR is low, then your backlink might not even get indexed.

If domain PR is high, your backlinks will get indexed.

Another thing, You seem to have chosen a very low seach volume niche. You should have rather gone for the bigger niche and targeted this small niche with 1 page in the website.

Example :

Niche = Buy books online

Now there are millions of books that can be bought online. That does not mean that you should register a domain for each and every book and build a site.

In this case, I would go for : MainNicheKeywordRichDomain.com ( .com is important ) and make several pages targeting 1 book per page only. Don't make duplicate content ( i.e. don't try to sell 1 book on many pages ) and then get myself backlinks.

This way google sees that you are kind of an authority site and gives you better rankings.

Hope this helps.

Keep going. As long as you don't get distracted like me, you'll be fine. Once you get the hang of manually building links look at some automation tools to help you out.

@daserpent - thanks for the details, i think i still have a chance to do what you suggested, since my domain is a 3 worded keyword, the 2 worded one is much more broad and gets more search volume. i'll let you know how it goes, thanks for the guidance!

@derpywizard - right now i'm just manually building all types of links without any specific 'strategy'. for example, im manually commenting on random blogs, making profile links that are provided in this forum, posting on random forums, randomly linking on ezinearticles ive submitted, etc. is there a specific way you're supposed to build your links?
