You will need a good amount of coding experience to develop a project of that magnitude yourself. BUT you can learn to develop app/websites as you build this project up! It will be fun and rewarding. I can't post links yet but Google "learn how to code mobile app" and "learn how to make website" to get started.

Maybe it would be easier, faster and cheaper to hire somebody with experience to do it for you.

I second this.
You want a big hits app, hire pro coders. 2-3 months you'll get MVP.
You want a job, learn to code. And it might take 5 years to be a pro.
